我对微博知之甚少，但听说有时有人会利用微博恶作剧。不过这次，我倒还真希望这事儿并非是真的。

老孙，是真的。。。 周丹前天和我说时，我也以为是别人搞的恶作剧，但是昨天我们这里的中文报纸都有报道。真的不敢相信。。。 Met him about four years ago. He was a very gentle, soft-spoken person, but with a quiet confidence and very knowledgeable. It is a great loss. He was a loving husband, doting father and a filial son. 天妒英才。。。 I hope he is in a better place now. I am sure many of us will remember him, Shaun Yeo.

你好！很久不见。我看了 stonejohn 贴出的那篇报道之后，已经相信此事。一开始之所以不相信，主要是觉得他还十分年轻。他的译文，我以前陆续看过一些。看看他的译文，才觉得那是艺术，觉得自己翻译的东西只不过是应付差事而已。他值得我们学习的地方不仅是他的翻译技巧，更值得学习的是他的人品。是的，我们会永远记住他！
希望你也要多多保重自己的身体！

That must have been his last post in our forum. As always, he was confident but modest.
My last interaction with Shaun was a simple praise to him. We were discussing that segment of text from the beginning of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby".

看了 Steve 和 lbone 贴子中的链接，我发现最近还与姚先生有过几次交流，只是次数不太多，一时记不起来了。看了更多姚先生论坛上的发言，感觉他真是一个精彩的人，一个近乎完美的人。待认真学习下姚先生的译文后，我会写篇小文，作为纪念。

曹旭东先生组织中国翻译联谊会，也力邀他参加。

我也是。他才48岁，正当壮年，真的有点难以置信。周三早上通过Facebook听闻噩耗时，我还有点半信半疑，希望是开玩笑。我告诉其他我知道也认识他的人时，有一位甚至回复问我“今天不是愚人节吧？”
后来家属发了讯息，只能相信了。多处的新闻报道更说明消息属实。

I was shocked to know his passing away.
It really got me thinking to do more exercise.
A sedantary lifestyle means increased risk of heart disease which seems to be the curse of civilization.
from wikipedia:

姚先生功力深厚、文笔优雅、为人谦逊。他走得这么早，真让人痛惜。
我总以为这类事离我们这个翻译部落还很遥远，谁料不幸可随时降临。都说天道酬勤？好翻译大多是奉献者。怀念之余，各位同行是否该审视一下自己的生活节奏，必要时宁可改变生存环境，也别把身体搭进去。别一味追求速度，跟机器赛跑；工作时也别老坐在电脑前；没电脑时代前人也翻译得很好。留点时间给自己，多接触大自然。这应该是姚先生的英年早逝能给我们翻译同行的启示。
