I own a licence for v.11 (the "Advanced" version), and am waiting to see if the new 3D version will be any good/add anything. Sadly, the main thing I remember from back when they unveiled their last "major release" is that it was pretty much exactly the same. I'll probably get it even if it's not much different/better, as it's only €89.25 for going from v11 Advanced to the new 3D Advanced. However, I am far from impressed by their coders. I have been asking for basic, simple things now for like 5 years, and … nothing.

Hello Yiftah,
I understand you moved from TO3000 to BaccS. I'm currently in the process of evaluating both of these options and it looks like BaccS wins hands down (and not only in terms of price). I'm *this* close to making a decision but I wanted to ask you first whether there are any issues with BaccS that you've come across? Thank you!

Hannele Franklin wrote:

I haven't encountered any major issue. There were some small technical things, for example, the software allowing me to delete data (a job, a client etc.) without asking for a confirmation. But I reported it and it was fixed in the following release a few days later. The developer is very responsive. So I am still very very happy with it.

I also had contacts with Eugene from BaccS, and he was quick to respond and to help.
The function I’m missing is the ability to count words in the projects in order to do the invoices...
I would have to use anycount and BaccS...

Wanted to see if TO3000 3D would be an improvement, but the download link is still broken.

Thanks to everyone (and to Michael Joseph Wdowiak Beijer personally, thanks) for this topic.
As per Translation Office 3000 development team, the next major version (long-waited 3D) will be published on 19th of April.
Hopefully it will meet your expectations. | | | Natalie Poland Local time: 00:18 Membro (2002) English to Russian + ... Moderador deste foro SITE LOCALIZER
Thank you for the good news.
We have a private forum here, at ProZ.com, where a few volunteers participated in testing older versions. Maybe we could do the same before the new version will be released?

It's way cheaper, and much better, and its (sole) developer has only been working on it for a few months. He implements features and fixes bugs within only days and is extremely enthusiastic and responsive.
BaccS has all kinds of useful features/things that TO3000 doesn't have, many of which, TO3000 users have been asking for for years. For example:
• BaccS has an amazing/clear calendar/scheduling pane, which is automatically linked to your Google calendar. Create a job, and it automatically pops up in your Google calendar, including an event on its deadline.
• It took AIT many years to finally add search functionality to TO3000, which is finally available in the 3D version. BaccS has had it from day one.
• AIT finally added a Dashboard to the 3D version, but it's all but useless. The Dashboard in the BaccS is so much better, and can be customized.
• BaccS has a plethora of themes, can make it look like anything you want
• There is a little notepad on the Dashboard, which I find very useful
• BaccS has a TO3000 data importer
• BaccS has a so-called "First-run assistant", to help you get started
• TO3000 3D automatically installs (1) Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express LocalDB (231MB) + (2) Microsoft SQL server 2012 Native Client (13.7MB), and can't run without them. Programs that install and need Microsoft SQL Server are never a good idea, unless absolutely necessary. Across, e.g., also forces you to install Microsoft SQL Server....
• Eugene/Yauhen implements features requested by BaccS users in mere days, and is extremely enthusiastic and responsive. Compare this with TO3000, which has several 5-year-old bugs that have never been fixed.
• BaccS has all kinds of automatic word stat and performance reports, and a work timer
• BaccS has an amazing Invoice Template editor
etc.
I own the current version of TO3000, but have never been happy with it, and am currently in the process of switching to BaccS. BaccS also has a fully functional TO3000 data importing tool, so you can switch from one to the other relatively easily, and just continue where you left off yesterday in TO3000.
