a falling out is American English Apr 1, 2008

"A falling out" is perfectly fine English.
I have an MA and a BA. Most of my friends are educated and articulate. We live in SF, CA and Boston (many 'Ivey League' grads) and we use the phrase regularly. And we haven't had a falling out over the use of it. I speak several foreign languages--my friends do not. We are all Americans.

You get a chance to meet people from different parts of life who are interested in learning English or interacting with a foreigner (native English speaker).

Teaching was very challenging sometimes but it was a great life experience.
