ProZ.com Integrates SDL TRADOS Certification into Translator Search Criteria

Industry leaders partner to enhance opportunities for translators and facilitate standards for the translation supply chain

Syracuse, NY – 14 August 2007 - SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with ProZ.com, the Internet's leading Web 2.0 platform for the exchange of translation services and resources, including the integration of the SDL TRADOS® Certification credential into the world's largest translator community.

With over 5,500 corporations, language services providers (LSPs) and professional translators currently in the process of becoming SDL TRADOS Certified, and in anticipation of the SDL TRADOS Certification 2007 launch, ProZ.com will integrate the SDL TRADOS Certification credential into the site's online workplace and translator profiles.

SDL TRADOS Certification provides peace of mind for end-user corporations looking to enhance their high-quality translation processes through accurate formatting, proper treatment of file types and consistent terminology.  Recently Microsoft® announced it's support of the certification program (see release SDL Collaborates with Microsoft), whilst Siemens has encouraged all of its vendors to be SDL TRADOS Certified (see release Siemens A&D endorses SDL TRADOS Certification program).

Outsourcers at ProZ.com now have a means of requiring SDL TRADOS or SDLX® Certification when posting to the job board or searching the directory, and also when using the new ProZ.com Connect! sourcing and vendor management platform (corporate membership is required to use Connect!).

Translators at Proz.com are now able to showcase their SDL TRADOS Certification credentials, thereby indicating to potential and existing clients that they are fully prepared to work with the world's leading translation technology. This integration further encourages and rewards ongoing education and professional development among the translation community.

"With companies like Microsoft and Siemens promoting SDL TRADOS certification, it's a no-brainer" said Klaus Kurre, a translator and trainer registered with ProZ.com. "I need to show my commitment to quality and this has helped enormously to differentiate my skills, win more business and charge higher rates. I recommend everyone participate."

This strategic partnership reflects the strength of SDL TRADOS Technologies and ProZ.com's commitment to enhancing professional opportunities for translators and further benefiting the industry as a whole.” said Mike Kidd, Executive Vice President of ProZ.com, “SDL TRADOS Technologies is an important partner to the ProZ.com community - enhancing our ability to develop and deliver industry-leading solutions that improve the lives of translators and outsourcers.”

Keith Laska, Vice President of SDL TRADOS Technologies said of the partnership: “We place extremely high value on the translator community, which forms the foundation of our industry, and ProZ.com is the leading community of translation professionals. Through our strategic partnership and integration of SDL TRADOS Certification we aim to further facilitate professional development within the ProZ.com community of members.“
