Translating file names in macOS

1. Open the folder with the files to rename.
2. Press CMD+A, CMD+C.
3. Open MS-Excel.
4. Paste the clipboard content both in the second and third column.
5. Type mv (short for move) in cell A1.
6. Select A1 and drag down until all rows in the second column are preceded with mv.
7. Save and exit MS-Excel.
8. Import the worksheet in your CAT tool (e.g. CafeTran Espresso 2018).

10. Translate as usual.
11. Export the translated worksheet.
12. Open the translated worksheet in MS-Excel.
13. Press CMD+A, CMD+C.
14. Open BBEdit (or any other text editor).
15. Paste the clipboard content in a new document.
16. Find and replace \t with " ", with the grep checkbox selected.
17. Find and replace \r with "\r, with the grep checkbox selected.
18. Add one " at the end of the last row.
19. Find and replace mv" with mv, to remove superfluous double quotes.
20. Save the file as translate.txt, in the same folder as the files that you want to rename and exit BBEdit.
21. Open the Terminal and navigate to the folder containing the file translate.txt and the files that you want to rename.
22. Type bash translate.txt.
