I started working with an agency a month ago after taking their entry test, and I have worked on several short translations and one major project with them.
Today, I got an email saying they want me to do a paid test task.
Is this something agencies do regularly?
I'm just a little bit worried if there were any problems with my translations.
It has only been just over a month since I took their entry task after all.

I suppose it is for a particular customer they are trying to acquire.
Generally speaking, customers ask for paid tests to translation vendors.

Good luck

If they had any problem with your translations they wouldn’t be asking for a paid test, but for a discount (or even refusing to pay if they considered the problem was quite serious). Some end clients ask their translation agency to provide a few tests before assigning the job and usually these are paid. It’s probably what is happening here. Why don’t you ask them to what end they need this test? You could say that it’s important to know who the intended audience is as this will determine... See more
