Using Hidden Non-translatables

Since a couple of weeks, CafeTran Espresso 10 allows you to define whatever literal string or regular expression you want as a hidden non-translatable fragment. At last, we have our long-awaited 'regex tagger'.

To let CafeTran handle expressions like '[a]', '[b]' ... as hidden non-translatables in a document like:

you'll have to proceed as follows:

First you create a new glossary. Make sure that you select the checkbox 'Non-translatable fragments only'.

In this glossary you enter the following regular expression:

|\[\w\]^

Explanation:

| Starts a regular expression
\[ The character '['
\w Any word character (a, b, c, ...)
\] The character ']'
^ Defines the line as a hidden non-translatable


Note that you can also define literal strings (proper names etc.) as hidden non-translatables.
