I am thinking of buying an Acer Travelmate 803LCi (link at http://www.dabs.com/uk/ProductView?quicklinx=33F4 ), as I am starting out as a freelance translator and need a properly mobile computer that also has a big screen. All reviews I have seen have been good - can anyone tell me their own experience? many thanks Angela
Angela, since year 2000 I have an ACER Travelmate 740. Great Computer. My husband got an other one but I can't remeber the number. All I know is that they are great computers. Good luck with it, Fabiana

Acer Travelmate user, anybody experience with HP Compaq? | May 18, 2004 |
I am using my partner's Acer Travelmate 290 with Intel Centrino processor (I think they are out of production already, it is now 291) and as I wrote yesterday in another forum, it is my backup computer but I think it is great & am going to buy another Centrino /Pentium M to replace my other noisy Pentium IV laptop. I am thinking of the Acer Travelmate or a HP Compaq NX5000, it seems to be more flexible in options - Anybody here works on a Hp Compaq? | | | Lia Fail (X) Spain Local time: 01:15 Spanish to English + ... I have been using the above for 2 years without a hitch, except for when I spilt a drop of coffee on the keyboard that meant I coulldn't type '1', and it took an angry posting here to get some kind of repsonse from the after-sales service (that was Spain, by the way). The actual service, once I got the bl**** address (which was ALL I wanted, and it took about 2 months - 902 calls sending me to website, website sending me to 902 number) was not very expensive (they fixed the keyboard... Obviously I was without the computer for about a week. My tuppence worth:-) ▲ Collapse | | | Stephen Franke United States Local time: 16:15 English to Arabic + ... Re buying an Acer notebook... Greetings. Re buying an Acer notebook... With apologies for referring to my own limited, but expensive, experience with Acer products and service. ANS: Don't. I had (and survived) two of them. Never again. Customer support was ineffective, and technical service was atrocious. HTH. Regards, Stephen H. Franke | | | Jalapeno Local time: 01:15 English to German

Just believe the reviews and go ahead and buy it. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Acer laptops - anyone use one/know them?
