Hi,
I’ve found another post with this or what I would consider a similar topic:

https://www.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/340726-trados_not_opening_error_window_says_"file_could_not_be_located".html

She stated that her problem with Trados was related to MemoQ. In my case, I don’t use MemoQ, so there’s no apparent cause and effect with it. As Rebecca mentioned in her post, TRADOS 2019 SR was working fine for me too, but then just simply stopped working out of the blue and the error message “File could not be located” began appearing every time I clicked on the desktop icon to open the program.

In my case, the program won’t even open. I get the error message and that’s it. I’ve tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but to no avail.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I'm a newbie at using Trados, so please be patient and kind in your responses. Thanks.

Ok, got it Apr 1, 2020

Ok, it took me 2-and-a-half hours to solve the problem. (So much for Trados being a time saving tool.)

Anyway, I'll share what I did in case anyone else bumps into this problem. I found the this help page and followed the instructions:

Ok, it took me 2-and-a-half hours to solve the problem. (So much for Trados being a time saving tool.)

Anyway, I'll share what I did in case anyone else bumps into this problem. I found the this help page and followed the instructions:

https://gateway.sdl.com/CommunityKnowledge?articleName=000001414

Workaround 1 did NOT solve the problem.

Workaround 2 DID work. Here's the useful information the above-mentioned page contains regarding Trados 2019 error messages:

SDL Trados Studio 2019:
Windows 7/8/10: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

NOTE: If you do not find this folder, make sure that these files are not hidden. See KB article Showing hidden files, folders and extensions on Windows operating systems

Rename the following XML files (for example, add an underscore before/after the file name):

BaseSettings.xml
Plugincache.xml
UserSettings.xml

Restart Studio.

Hope that helps anyone else who runs into the same problem.
