Every Word document I try to open receives the same message:

"Selected file is not a Microsoft Office 2007 Document"

And yes, I am using Word 2007 and saving as .docx.

So, what can be the problem?

Swordfish tells you that the document is not in "Office 2007" format. That doesn't mean it is not a Word document.

Saving with .docx extension doesn't mean that the document is saved with 2007 format. Make sure you select the right document type when saving.

If you are sure that the document is in 2007 format, you should be able to open it with Winzip or any tool that supports Zip format.
