neutral  Aurelio Alvarez Ibarra: "grounds" me suena a "fundamentos de". En este caso yo pondría "assumptions"

-> Thank you Aurelio. By "grounds" I'm referring to scenarios in which the act can be upheld. Btw, it's unlikely anyone would understand "act" as a document (acta) here, but I have used "decision" and you could also use "action".

Explanation:
Respecto al resto de la frase, "act" puede ser confundido con un "acta" (i.e. un documento). Yo pondría "event" o "situation" que suena más parecido en significado a lo que queremos decir en español.

neutral  Robert Carter: Careful when translating out of your own language. To me this just sounds vague and fails to convey the intended meaning. "Event" or "situation" for "acto" would I believe also be confusing. ¡Saludos!
