Any merit to that meaning, Christine? I'd like to make a proposed translation (I do meet the criteria), as it still seems to me like it could be the intended meaning, but not if you're already certain it's "non-OEM."

Non-OEM may very well be correct. Well, for what it's worth, based on the context and even your analysis of "not included during manufacture / are not related to its manufacture," this is where I was headed: Technicians are notorious for stashing things (especially user manuals, small tools, etc.) inside the cabinets of machinery. But if the cabinet in question doesn't have any "handy" little ledges to store these kinds of things on, then it's irrelevant.

Christine, are there any diagrams associated with this part of the manual? I think there's another possible meaning but am not sure with just this context.
