My experience as a proofreader is what led me to discover my passion for translation. As I am not fond of literal translations that sound ‘unnatural’ to the native ear, when translating marketing texts for luxury brands, press releases, product catalogues and similar texts, I often rephrase sentences in order to make them sound more effective to the Italian reader, while always respecting the original meaning. Achieving accuracy, consistency and carrying out an in-depth terminology research have become everyday challenges for me in my work as a translator.
I also believe that there is a substantial difference between a translation produced by a professional native speaker and one made by someone who simply knows a foreign language; this is why I only translate from the foreign languages that I have studied into my native language i.e. into Italian and not vice versa.
