English to Russian: Округлые индикаторные рисунки. Выдержка из стандарта ASME General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Source text - English (a) Rounded Indications. Indications with a maximum length of three times the width or less on the radiograph are defined as rounded indications. These indications may be circular, elliptical, conical, or irregular in shape and may have tails. When evaluating the size of an indication, the tail shall be included. The indication may be from any imperfection in the weld, such as porosity, slag, or tungsten.
(b) Aligned Indications. A sequence of four or more rounded indications shall be considered to be aligned when they touch a line parallel to the length of the weld drawn through the center of the two outer rounded indications.
(c) Thickness t. t is the thickness of the weld, excluding any allowable reinforcement. For a butt weld joining two members having different thicknesses at the weld, t is the thinner of these two thicknesses. If a full penetration weld includes a fillet weld, the thickness of the throat of the fillet shall be included in t.

My primary field of specialization may be called marketing texts in mechanical engineering. There are lots of texts that require both nice and easy-to-read language and technical accuracy: catalogs, brochures, manuals, reports. To translate them, you need a person with the profound knowledge in the field and ability to express your thoughts accurately and in a well-formed, understandable, and attractive way.
In other words, you need someone like me.
I've got a master's degree in engineering and I've been working as full-time freelance translator since 2010. I keep honing my knowledge in engineering by taking courses and reading publications and use the most current versions of standards and regulations in my work.
I'm a native speaker with strong linguistic skills (and even used to write the poetry that was well accepted) and some experience in marketing. I pay a lot of attention to my style to keep it both expressive and appropriate for your needs.
This combination ensures that you wouldn't have to sacrifice understandability and commercial attractiveness of your document for accuracy or to get a good marketing copy with some important details missed or misinterpreted. No more sacrifices! You can get both of them.
However, I may work in the field of mechanical engineering as it is, without marketing.
In my career, I have been translating standards, manuals, patents, reports, handbooks, feasibility studies, and all kinds of technical documentation.
Themes I like the most include:
- Machining
- Coatings and paintings
- CNC machines
- NDE/NDT
- and many others.
My primary language pair is English->Russian, but I also work in English->Ukrainian pair.
My main tools are SDL Trados 2014, memoQ.
However, I'm always open to new fields, new tools, new experiences. I've become a translator due to my curiosity that is why I'm not going to say 'no' because your tool is quite new for me, or because the field seems too odd or far from my usual field. Social behaviour of swine? You're welcome. Gambling website or fashion clothing? I'll do my best.
I'm not taking every project offered but I really enjoy learning new things. For example, among MOOCs (massive open online courses) I've completed recently there are not only engineering disciplines, but also 'The Horse Course: Introduction to Basic Care and Management', 'Contemporary Issues in Ocean Governance', and I'm taking 'Dairy Production and Management'.
And a bit of statistics:
In 2015, I had translated 469,128 words in such fields as:
- Food processing
- Health care
- Process machines
- NDE, testing, and materials
- Packing equipment
- etc.
My turnaround is about 4,000 words per day depending on the document, its field of work etc.
