Translation - English Charming Sentimental Art
Ramadan in Cairo .. How does art taste in
the shade of history?
Every year a charming guest pays us a
very nice, yet short-lived, visit. Just after
that pleasant guest pays farewell, a feast
comes.
It is … Ramadan! A very sought-after
guest with a magic wand that amazingly
transforms souls, makes Mercy gates
wide open for us and paves our way to
Forgiveness. It eventually gives us a
chance to avoid dwelling in Hell in the
hereafter. During Ramadan our hearts
worship our most beloved Creator
devotedly, our souls soar in divine
spheres, we are given a chance to tame
our shrewd selves, and our souls dive into
the fantastic ‘Ramadan Ocean’ to collect
valueless pearls.
English to Arabic: The growth of the human population General field: Social Sciences
Source text - English The growth of the human population of
the globe represents the main urgent
threat to human species. All other aspects
of human behavior are secondary. The
rate of annual growth of the human
population remained very low almost/
approximately during all the few millions
of years that first time man trod this
planet. This growth rate, which began to
rise remarkably during the eighteenth
century and sharply increased during the
nineteenth century, was a cause of worry
only during our lifetime.
Most of the developed countries have
gone through what is called a
demographic transition. When
industrialization began as a result of
relatively assured/ guaranteed supplies of
food, and the introduction of modern
hygienic measures, a quick decline of
mortality rate occurred largely among the
newly-born and young children, while the
fertility rate did not decline for some
time. During that period the number of
population in Europe, the United States,
and Japan increased rapidly. Thereafter,
the fertility rate declined to virtually
match the mortality rate, and the number
of population of these countries was on its
way to remain stable.
But, the rest of the world was at the yoke
of colonialism. The result was lack of
demographic proportion which no one
foresaw. The Western masters brought to
large geographical zones the same
hygienic measures which were effective
in their own countries whereas they did
not encourage the growth of local
industry. In so doing, they brought down
the mortality rate in varying degrees;
however, they did not introduce the
economic growth which would provide
jobs, income, healthcare, education,
better diets, and elevate the status of
women, would also generate incentives
and motives of spontaneous decline in
fertility, which growth accompanied in
Europe, the United States, and Japan.
The large mass of the developing world
still has to go through this demographic
transition. As a result, the census of world
population, now 4000 million, is driving
toward 7000 million at the turn of the
twentieth century, and is not likely to
stabilize before world population is
10,000 million or more, unless other
phenomena interfere, which may happen.
To put it most simply, if mankind is to
live in the state of material well-being that
technology can bring, and taking into
consideration the size and limited
resources of our planet, we are now too
many / we are already just many.
Translation - Arabic
English to Arabic: Alzheimer's Disease General field: Medical
Source text - English Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's disease and related
dementias can cause a person to act in
different and unpredictable ways. Some
individuals with Alzheimer's become
anxious or aggressive. Others repeat
certain questions and gestures. Many
misinterpret what they see or hear.
These types of reactions can lead to
misunderstanding, frustration and
tension, particularly between the person
with dementia and the caregiver. It is
important to understand that the person is
not acting that way on purpose.
Aggressive behaviours may be verbal
(shouting, name-calling) or physical
(hitting, pushing). These behaviours can
occur suddenly, with no apparent reason,
or can result from a frustrating situation.
Whatever the case, it is try to understand
what is causing the person to become
angry or upset.
Possible causes:
Aggression can be caused by many
factors including physical discomfort,
environmental factors and poor
communication. If the person is
aggressive, consider the following:
Physical discomfort:
• Is the person tired because of inadequate
rest or sleep?
• Are medications causing side effects?
• Is the person unable to let you know he
or she is experiencing pain?
Environmental factors
• Is the person over-stimulated by loud
noises, an overactive environment or
physical clutter?
• Does the person feel lost?
Poor communication:
• Are you asking too many questions or
making too many statements at once?
• Are your instructions simple and easy to
understand?
• Is the person picking up on your own
stress and irritability?
• Are you being negative or critical?
Translation - Arabic
