Source text - English Our Old Fashioned MILK PAINT is a re-creation of the ancient MILK PAINT formula used for centuries before the sale of commercially made paints. It is an authentic finish for use in the restoration of antiques or the reproduction of antique furniture. It comes in vibrant colours that are durable and do not fade. Also, since our real MILK PAINT is made from elements that pre-date the use of petrochemicals and other toxic bases and solvents, it is biodegradable, non-toxic, and odour-free when dry. Our MILK PAINT is preferred by custom furniture builders, interior designers, artists, artisans, do-it-yourselfers, and those who are sensitive to the need to protect the environment.
APPLICATIONS
Our MILK PAINT is used to achieve an authentic "old look" for furniture, floors, cupboards, woodwork, walls, signs, toys, and stencilling. It penetrates into all clean, porous (unfinished) surfaces. MILK PAINT DIRECTIONS
Porous Surfaces: milk paint, like all water paints, adheres best to a porous surface, such as bare wood or masonry.
Nonporous Surfaces: our Extra-Bond additive will help the milk paint adhere to MOST clean, sound nonporous surfaces.
SIMPLE TO USE
Mix: measure about equal amounts of water and powder into separate containers. The one-pint package contains about 1-1/2 cups of powder, and when mixed with 1-1/2 cups of water it will make about 1 pint of paint. (Note: warm water helps).
Apply: apply with a dry brush, roller or spray gun. Natural bristle brushes are fine, but foam brushes may require less effort and leave fewer brush marks. Milk paint is naturally somewhat streaky in colour. This is normal. The most even colour is achieved by spraying. Next best for evenness is by roller application. Again, you may find that foam rollers are easier to control. For spraying, paint should be a little thinner than for brushing and should be strained. Spray with conventional spray equipment at about 30 lbs pressure. Adjust pressure and nozzle to get a good paint film, not dry and not runny. With a little practice, you should be able to spray a Windsor chair in about 3 or 4 minutes. Remember always wear proper protection when spraying any paint.
Clean up: clean all tools now with water and a Scotch-Brite pad so that the paint doesn't dry on them.
MIXING TIPS
Small Amounts: when mixing small containers of the paint by hand it is easiest to make a paste of the powder with some of the water and stir until smooth, like making gravy, using a rubber spatula or paint stick. Then gradually add more water until you reach the desired consistency.
Large Amounts: when mixing up larger amounts it may be easier to mix equal amounts of water and powder using a wire paint paddle on a drill or similar method, on lowest speed, being careful not to mix too fast which can create foam.
Timing: mix thoroughly for 2-3 minutes. Then let stand for 10-15 minutes, so everything has a chance to disperse entirely.
Strain: sometimes powder lumps don't fully dissolve. You may want to strain the mixed paint through a paper mesh paint funnel, a piece of cheesecloth, or, better still, a piece of nylon stocking.
Stir: stir paint every 10 minutes or so while using, and add more water to the proper consistency if the paint thickens.
Best Used Fresh: milk paint is always best mixed up fresh. If you happen to have leftover paint or need to wait a day to finish your project you may keep any unused paint in a sealed container in the refrigerator (even plastic wrap held in place with a rubber band is fine). It remains best if mixed on the thinner side, even with a thin layer of water put on top of the paint mixture. Being true to the original formulas we do not add unnatural preservatives or extenders to our paint, and due to its organic nature it can thicken and gel up over time, so it is best to mix up what you plan to use that day if possible. Any unused powder can be stored indefinitely in an airtight container such as a jar.
(A) POROUS SURFACES PAINTING PROCEDURES
New wood or other porous surfaces such as masonry.
Note: No primer is necessary - the first coat acts as its primer on most softwoods and open-grained hardwoods. However, close-grained hardwoods such as maple or birch will require an initial layer of milk paint with Extra-Bond added, as in "B-2" below.
A-1} Clean: wipe down the item with a damp rag to remove any dust and to pre-dampen the surface.
A-2} Seal: then, seal knots, if any (optional) with shellac (apply the first coat of milk paint while the shellac is still tacky) OR paint knots with a mixture of prepared milk paint with Extra-Bond added, as in "B-2" below. You may also add the Extra-Bond into your entire first coat if desired.
A-3} First Coat: paint the entire item with the first coat of milk paint.
A-4} Second Coat: after an hour or more, if you wish, you can rub down the first coat lightly with a Scotch-Brite pad, fine sandpaper, or non-oiled steel wool. Now, if it looks like it needs it, you can apply a second coat of straight milk paint.
A-5} Finished: if you like the look and the rough texture, your masterpiece is finished
A-6} Optional: after a couple of hours, or overnight, you may wish to rub down to a satin-smooth finish and "distress" the finish. You can rub down the surface as in No. 4 above or do any distressing at this time. Be sure to try any of these techniques on a test piece to be sure you will like the result.
A-7} Prevent Water Spotting: we recommend sealing the paint on any surface that is susceptible to spills or in a damp area or if you will want to be able to wash the surface. Without a sealer the paint is fine, but it will water spot and readily absorb dirt. Any sealer will work over the milk paint, but again, it is essential to test the finish over a painted scrap to be sure that you like the result. Penetrating oils such as linseed, tung, or blended oils like Watco Danish Oil will deepen the colour considerably, but are beautiful over the milk paint, especially on a piece of furniture such as a chair. Wax is fine, too, but, as with the above oils, may not protect enough against coffee cup rings, for example, on a table. Clear gel finishes and most solvent based finishes usually work well as sealers but like oils and waxes, do darken the paint colour, and can tend to yellow a bit which may be of concern if you are using white milk paint. Look for a non-yellowing topcoat such as Benjamin Moore Stays Clear to avoid yellowing over white milk paint. An oil or solvent based sealer may be the best option for kitchen cabinets. On floors use a sealer meant for floors for best protection.
(B) WALL PAINTING PROCEDURES
New wallboard and new plaster.
B-1} Prepare Surface: on sheetrock or masonry that has joint compound over joints and nails, "joint banding" or "photographing" may produce problems caused by the differences in porosities and surface texture of the face paper of the sheetrock or the roughness of masonry and the smoothness of the joint compound. When viewed in direct lighting, the joints may be visible. To avoid this phenomenon, an initial coat of "Sheetrock First Coat" or equivalent flat latex wall primer (available at most paint stores) is advisable. We have also had good luck with AFM Safecoat New Wallboard Primer. Note: We do NOT recommend using primer-sealers with stain blockers such as Kilz or Zinsser Bin. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding cure time of plasters and primers before moving on to using the milk paint. Also, additives in some modern plasters may inhibit proper adhesion of the milk paint in some cases, which is another reason that we suggest the use of primers for plaster as well as sheetrock surfaces.
B-2} Extra-Bond: to use the Extra-Bond, first mix the milk paint with water according to the directions in "Simple to Use" mixing section, then add an equal amount of Extra-Bond, and stir the two liquids together. You may use as little as one part Extra-Bond to two parts of milk paint, but better adhesion may be achieved using equal parts. Next, after the first coat is completely dry, paint a second coat of straight milk paint. (Extra-Bond is not necessary for the second coat).
B-3} Seal: if desired, as in "A-7," above.
(C) NON-POROUS SURFACES PAINTING PROCEDURES
Previously painted or otherwise finished surfaces, any other non-porous surface such as glass, metal, enamel or pre-primed material.
Note: unless you know the condition of the surfaces beneath previous coats of finish, we do caution you about the use of milk paint over multiple layers of paint that may have been applied without proper cleaning beforehand. Milk paint dries very rapidly and shrinks in all directions while drying. This can pull and tug on the previous layers quite strongly, enough in some cases to cause the weakly bonded underlayers to peel off, thereby creating serious problems. We also do not recommend using milk paint over primer-sealers with stain blockers such as Kilz or Zinsser Bin.
C-1} Prepare Surface: good finishing practice states that any surface to be painted or repainted must be cleaned and dulled, not shiny. All grime should be removed with a washing soda such as T.S.P., and polished surfaces should be scuffed up with sandpaper. Surface must be clean, sound and free of oil, grease, dust and dirt. By ignoring this practice, the new paint may not adhere well, and future coats could peel off when repainted.
C-2} Test Surface: for previously painted multiple coated surfaces, it is essential to also test the layers of paint for adhesion to each other. This is to be sure that the old paint won't peel off and take the new paint with it. First, cut a one inch long "X" in the old paint film with a razor blade or sharp knife. It's best to do this in a few different areas. Then apply a strip of Scotch tape or masking tape over the "X", and rub the tape on firmly. Then pull it off quickly. If the old paint comes off with the tape, you have poor adhesion, usually created from re-painting over grime.
C-3} Remove Old Paint: if the old paint films have poor adhesion, we do not recommend painting over with any water paint, including milk paint. The old paint should be removed by stripping or sanding and scraping. If you don't remove it, the new paint may lift off the old paint, at least in some areas.
C-4} Neutralize: on any surfaces that have been chemically stripped of finish, be sure to neutralise any residual chemicals by wiping the surface with a 50/50 vinegar and water solution before re-painting.
C-5} Prime Metal: raw metal should be primed with a rust inhibiting primer.
C-6} Extra-Bond: apply one coat of milk paint with Extra-Bond added, as in "B-2", above, followed by a second coat of straight milk paint. This will work on MOST clean surfaces where previous layers are sound and not weakly bonded as shown above, and that have been prepared for painting as stated above. If you are unsure of the surface, it is a good idea to test the project first from start to finish in an unnoticeable area. This means applying two coats in your test if that is what you plan to do on your project. Often, on a questionable surface, the first coat may appear to adhere, but sometimes an adhesion problem is not apparent until you apply the second coat.
C-7} Seal: if desired, as in "A-7", above.
(D) EXTERIOR USE
We do not recommend milk paint for exterior use as it will water spot in the rain (except for white paint). However, multiple coats of a clear exterior finish will seal the paint and prevent water spots. Traditionally, milk paint was made waterproof with the addition of oil, such as linseed, poppy or peanut oil. We do not recommend this as the oil may still cause problems later with mildew or brittleness of the paint film. And, even with the oil added, the paint may still water spot.
(E) MILK PAINT COLORS
The colours will vary slightly from batch to batch due to minor variations in the natural earth materials. If you wish to change the hues or make tints of the colours (some are shown on our colour chart), start with Snow White and add colours to suit your taste. You can add Pitch Black or Lexington Green to deepen the tone. For example, 6 tbsp of Pitch Black to one pint (6 oz. bag) of Lexington Green makes a very nice early Windsor chair dark green. Any of our colours may be mixed to create new colours. The best way to develop your "ideal colour" is to start with a paper cup and some measuring spoons. Mix your powders first. Try a tablespoon of a major colour and add teaspoons or even fractions of teaspoons of another colour. Add a little water and mix well. The colour will look darker when wet, so paint the sample on a piece of scrap wood or even cardboard. The first quick test will show you which direction to go from there. Then multiply your measurements and make up the needed quantity. If you are going to use a sealer over the paint, try it first on your test piece to check the final colour.
(F) DECORATIVE FINISHES / FAUX FINISHES
Decorative finishing, such as graining, marbleizing, sponging, crackling, etc. is an art and not a science. Therefore we cannot stress too strongly the importance of testing every step of your finishing project on scrap or at least on a test area before applying your first coat on your project. For example, if you were going to finish a vertical surface with our Antique Crackle, your test should duplicate this condition so that if a problem such as running and sagging occurs, you will know about it in advance and adjust your brushing technique. Practice and testing cannot be overemphasised. The many books and courses available will help to guide you, but nothing takes the place of practice with small test samples mixed in paper cups.
(G) INGREDIENT QUALITY
Just as in Colonial times, and earlier, our milk paint does contain lime, milk protein, clays and earth pigments. We use no lead, no chemical preservatives and no hydrocarbons or other petroleum derivatives. The other ingredients are inert materials. All of our ingredients are food grade or pharmaceutical grade.
(H) ZERO TOXICITY
Milk paint is non-toxic as it contains no petrochemicals or VOC's. When wet, our paint has a slight earthy milk odour which will disappear in a few hours. The hydrated lime is highly alkaline, naturally anti-bacterial and lowers its alkalinity as it catalyses with the acidic milk protein. Inert when dry, it can still have anti-bacterial properties depending on the humidity in the area.
(I) SHELF LIFE
Keep the paint powder sealed until ready to use. If it is kept dry and air-tight, it should last indefinitely. If exposed to air or dampness for any period, the active lime becomes inert and turns to chalk. When this happens, the paint won't mix up correctly and if applied can powder off. We recommend storing unused powder in a glass or metal container with a tight lid.

ISTRUZIONI
Superfici porose: la vernice di latte, come tutte le vernici ad acqua, aderisce meglio a una superfice porosa, come legno grezzo o pareti in muratura.
Superfici non porose: il nostro primer Extra-Bond aiuterà la vernice di latte a aderire alla maggior parte delle superfici non porose e ben pulite.
SEMPLICE DA MISCELARE: misurare quantitativi uguali di acqua e di polvere in contenitori separati, poi mescolarli insieme. (L’utilizzo di acqua calda aiuta la miscelatura).
Applicazione: applicare con un pennello o rullo entrambi asciutti o con pistola a spruzzo. I pennelli con setole naturali vanno bene, ma i pennelli di spugna sono meno faticosi da utilizzare e lasciano meno segni. La vernice di latte è per natura striata. Questo è normale. Il colore più uniforme si ottiene usando la pistola a spruzzo o il rullo. Come detto prima, è possibile che i rulli a spugna siano più facili da utilizzare. Per la pistola a spruzzo, la vernice dovrebbe essere leggermente più diluita e filtrata. Regolate la pressione e la bocchetta della pistola per ottenere un buono strato di vernice, non troppo liquido né troppo denso. Con un po’di pratica, riuscirete a spruzzare una sedia stile Windsor in 3 o 4 minuti. Ricordate sempre di indossare una protezione adatta quando spruzzate qualsiasi vernice.
Per pulire: utilizzare acqua e una spugnetta per togliere ogni traccia di vernice da tutti gli attrezzi.
CONSIGLI PER LA MISCELATURA
Piccoli quantitativi: quando dovete miscelare un piccolo quantitativo di vernice a mano, è più facile fare una pasta con la polvere e poca acqua, mescolando fino a quando è liscia, come se fosse una crema, utilizzando una spatola di gomma. Poi aggiungete altra acqua fino a ottenere la consistenza desiderata.
Quantitativi maggiori: quando dovete miscelare quantitativi più grandi è più semplice utilizzare uguali quantità di acqua e di polvere e mescolarle con un frullino elettrico o qualcosa di simile, a velocità bassa, facendo attenzione che non si crei della schiuma.
Tempi: mescolate bene per 2 - 3 minuti. Poi lasciate riposare il composto per 10 -15 minuti, per ottenere una vernice più omogenea.
Filtraggio: a volte i grumi di polvere non si sciolgono completamente. Vi consigliamo di filtrare il composto usando un imbuto di carta per vernici, un pezzo di garza o, ancora meglio, un pezzo di calza di nylon.
Miscelatura: mescolare la vernice ogni 10 minuti mentre la state utilizzando e, se dovesse indurirsi, aggiungere altra acqua fino alla consistenza desiderata.
Meglio utilizzarla appena preparata: è sempre consigliabile preparare la vernice di latte appena prima del suo utilizzo. Se vi rimane della vernice o dovete attendere un giorno per finire di pitturare, potete conservare la vernice inutilizzata in un contenitore sigillato e messo in frigorifero (va bene anche coperto con della pellicola trasparente chiusa con un elastico). Si conserva meglio se lasciate uno strato sottile di acqua sopra la vernice. Per rimanere fedeli alle formule originali, non aggiungiamo nessun conservante non naturale alla nostra vernice, e, considerata la sua natura organica, nel tempo potrebbe indurirsi, quindi se possibile è meglio miscelare solo il quantitativo che pensate di utilizzare quel giorno. Tutta la polvere non utilizzata può essere conservata per un tempo indefinito in un contenitore ermetico tipo barattolo.
(A) PROCEDURA PER VERNICIARE SUPERFICI POROSE
Legno nuovo o altre superfici porose come pareti in muratura.
Nota: Nessun primer è necessario - il primo strato agisce come primer sulla maggior parte delle superfici di legno tenero e semiduro. Comunque, legni come quello di acero o di betulla, generalmente richiedono uno strato iniziale di vernice di latte con l’aggiunta di Extra-Bond, come indicato al punto B-2.
A-1} Pulizia: strofinare l’oggetto con uno straccio umido per rimuovere ogni traccia di polvere e inumidire la superficie.
A-2} Stuccatura: stuccare eventuali nodi con la gommalacca (applicare il primo strato di vernice di latte quando la gommalacca è ancora appiccicosa) OPPURE pitturare i nodi con un composto di vernice di latte ed Extra-Bond, come indicato al punto B-2. Se preferite, potete utilizzare il composto ottenuto con l’Extra-Bond per passare tutto il primo strato.
A-3} Primo Strato: pitturare l’intero oggetto con il primo strato di vernice di latte.
A-4} Secondo Strato: dopo un’ora o più, se volete, potete strusciare leggermente il primo strato con una spugnetta, carta abrasiva fine, o lana d’acciaio non oliata. Se lo ritenete necessario, potete applicare un secondo strato di vernice di latte.
A-5} Finitura: se vi piace l’aspetto grezzo, la vostra creazione è pronta.
A-6} Facoltativo: dopo un paio d’ore, o una nottata, potreste voler ottenere una finitura più liscia o dare un effetto invecchiato. Potete utilizzare la procedura indicata al punto A-4 o altre procedure secondo vostro gusto. Vi raccomandiamo di testare sempre ogni tecnica su un oggetto di prova per essere certi di ottenere il risultato desiderato.
A-7} Prevenire Macchie d’acqua: raccomandiamo di impermeabilizzare la vernice utilizzata su qualsiasi superficie soggetta a fuoriuscite di liquido, che si trova in un ambiente umido o se volete renderla lavabile. Senza un fissativo la vernice va bene, ma è probabile che si vedranno eventuali macchie d’acqua e che assorbirà lo sporco. Qualsiasi fissativo va bene per la vernice di latte, ma è fondamentale fare prima una prova per verificare il risultato. L’utilizzo di olio di semi di lino, olio di tung o altri tipi di olii renderà il colore considerabilmente più intenso, ma risultano molto belli sopra la vernice di latte, soprattutto su oggetti di arredamento come potrebbe essere una sedia.
Anche la cera va bene, ma, come succede con gli olii sopra menzionati, potrebbe non proteggere abbastanza la superficie da segni o marcature, per esempio, quelli lasciati da una tazza di caffè. Come fissativo funzionano bene anche i prodotti di finitura in gel trasparente e la maggior parte dei prodotti con solventi, ma come succede per l’olio e la cera, renderanno più scuro il colore della vernice, e hanno la tendenza a ingiallire, quindi prestate attenzione soprattutto se utilizzate il colore bianco. Un fissativo a olio o solvente potrebbe essere la migliore soluzione per i mobiletti di cucina. Per i pavimenti utilizzatene uno apposito per una migliore protezione.
(B) PROCEDURA PER VERNICIARE LE PARETI
Pannelli di rivestimento nuovi e intonaco nuovo.
B-1} Preparare la superficie: le superfici del cartongesso o pareti in muratura potrebbero avere dei punti più lisci e altri più ruvidi, per evitare che le differenze siano visibili alla luce diretta, si consiglia di passare uno strato iniziale di Sheetrock First Coat o equivalente primer da parete, disponibile nella maggior parte di negozi di vernici. Ci siamo trovati bene anche con AFM Safecoat New Wallboard Primer. Nota: NON consigliamo l’utilizzo di fissativi con antimacchia tipo Kilz o Zinsser Bin. Seguite sempre le raccomandazioni del produttore relative al tempo di solidificazione dell’intonaco e dei fissativi prima di utilizzare la vernice di latte. Inoltre, in alcuni intonaci moderni potrebbero esserci degli additivi che non permettono alla vernice di latte di aderire bene, anche per questo motivo vi consigliamo di utilizzare un fissativo apposito per pareti intonacate o in cartongesso.
B-2} Extra-Bond: per usare l’Extra-Bond, come prima cosa mescolate la vernice di latte con l’acqua come indicato nella sezione “Semplice da Miscelare”, poi aggiungete un quantitativo uguale di Extra-Bond e mescolate i due liquidi insieme. Potete usare una parte di Extra-Bond per due parti di vernice di latte, ma si otterrà una migliore aderenza utilizzando parti uguali dei due composti. Quando il primo strato sarà completamente asciutto, passate un secondo strato di vernice di latte. (Extra-Bond non è necessario per il secondo strato).
B-3} Impermeabilizzare: se desiderate, seguite la procedura indicata al punto A-7.
(C) PROCEDURA PER VERNICIARE SUPERFICI NON POROSE
Superfici precedentemente verniciate o laccate, qualsiasi altra superficie non porosa come vetro, metallo, smalto o materiale verniciato con primer.
Nota: se non conoscete le condizioni delle superfici sotto i precedenti strati di vernice o di lacca, vi consigliamo di non utilizzare la vernice di latte sopra i vecchi strati di vernice che probabilmente sono stati applicati senza una pulizia adeguata. La vernice di latte asciuga molto rapidamente e si restringe in tutte le direzioni durante l’asciugatura. Questo potrebbe influire sui precedenti strati che potrebbero iniziare a scrostarsi, creando seri problemi. Allo stesso modo vi raccomandiamo di non utilizzare la vernice di latte su superfici trattate con primer contenenti elementi antimacchia come Kilz o Zinsser Bin.
C-1} Preparare la superficie: è buona regola che ogni superficie da verniciare debba essere ben pulita e non lucida. Tutto lo sporco deve essere rimosso utilizzando della soda da bucato e le superfici lucidate dovrebbero essere scartavetrate. La superficie deve essere ben pulita, solida e libera da olio, grasso, polvere e sporco. Se ignorate questa procedura, la nuova vernice potrebbe non aderire bene e ogni strato successivo potrebbe scrostarsi.
C-2} Testare la superficie: per superfici precedentemente verniciate con molti strati, è essenziale testare gli strati di vernice vecchia per vedere il loro stato di aderenza. Questo garantirà che la vecchia vernice non si scrosti portando con sé anche la nuova vernice. Prima di tutto, tagliate una X lunga due centimetri negli strati della vecchia vernice, usando una lama di rasoio o un coltello affilato. Si consiglia di farlo in vari punti. Poi applicate un pezzetto di scotch o di nastro carta sulla X e tirate velocemente. Se la vecchia vernice viene via con il nastro, l’aderenza non è buona, generalmente dovuta a verniciatura su superficie sporca.
C-3} Rimuovere la vecchia vernice: se gli strati della vecchia vernice non hanno una buona aderenza, non vi consigliamo di verniciare sopra con nessuna vernice ad acqua, compresa la vernice di latte. La vecchia vernice dovrebbe essere rimossa, tramite spazzolatura o carteggiatura, altrimenti la nuova vernice potrebbe far scrostare quella vecchia, almeno in alcune parti.
C-4} Neutralizzare: su tutte le superfici trattate con prodotti chimici, abbiate cura di togliere ogni residuo di questi prodotti pulendo la superficie con una soluzione in parti uguali di aceto e acqua.
C-5} Metallo: il metallo grezzo dovrebbe essere trattato con un primer antiruggine.
C-6} Extra-Bond: applicate uno strato di vernice di latte mescolato con Extra-Bond, come indicato al punto B-2, e poi un secondo strato di vernice di latte. Questo funzionerà sulla MAGGIOR PARTE delle superfici pulite dove i precedenti strati sono solidi e ben aderenti e sono stati preparati per la verniciatura come indicato sopra. Se non siete sicuri della superficie, è consigliabile testare tutto il processo di verniciatura dall’inizio alla fine in una parte nascosta dell’oggetto. Questo significa applicare due strati se questo è quanto prevedete di fare per il vostro progetto. Molto spesso, su una superficie non conosciuta, il primo strato potrebbe aderire, ma il problema dell’aderenza potrebbe presentarsi quando applicate il secondo strato.
C-7} Impermeabilizzare: se desiderate, seguite la procedura indicata al punto A-7.
(D) USO ESTERNO
Non consigliamo di utilizzare la vernice di latte per uso esterno perché la pioggia potrebbe lasciare delle macchie (a parte il caso della vernice bianca). Comunque, multipli strati di un fissativo trasparente per esterni potrà sigillare la vernice e prevenire le macchie. Per tradizione, la vernice di latte veniva resa impermeabile con l’aggiunta di olio, come olio di semi di lino, papavero o arachide. Non lo raccomandiamo perché l’olio potrebbe comunque causare dei problemi in futuro con la comparsa di muffa o fragilità dello strato di vernice. E anche con l’aggiunta di olio, la tinta potrebbe comunque mostrare alcune macchie d’acqua.
(E) COLORI DELLA VERNICE DI LATTE
I colori possono variare leggermente da lotto a lotto a causa dei materiali naturali che utilizziamo. Se desiderate modificare la tonalità o creare nuovi colori (alcuni sono indicati nel nostro schema dei colori), iniziate con il bianco Neve e aggiungete colori come più vi piace. Potete aggiungere il Nero Pitch o il Verde Lexington per un tono più intenso. Qualsiasi colore può essere mescolato per creare nuovi colori, il modo migliore per arrivare al vostro colore ideale è iniziare con un bicchiere di carta e vari misurini. Prima mescolate le polveri, provate con un cucchiaio del colore principale e aggiungete quantità inferiori di un altro colore. Aggiungete un po’di acqua e mescolate bene. Il colore sembrerà più scuro da bagnato, quindi testatelo su un cartoncino o un pezzo di legno di prova. Questo primo test veloce vi indicherà quale direzione seguire. Poi moltiplicate le quantità utilizzate per preparare il quantitativo di vernice che vi è necessario. Se pensate di usare un fissativo sopra la vernice, fate prima un test sul vostro oggetto di prova per verificare il colore finale.
(F)FINITURE A SCOPO DECORATIVO
Le finiture a scopo decorativo come la marmorizzazione, la spugnatura o altre tecniche, sono un’arte e non una scienza precisa. Pertanto, consigliamo vivamente di testare ogni passo del vostro progetto di verniciatura su un oggetto di prova o una zona meno visibile della superficie, per ottenere il risultato migliore. Per esempio, se volete utilizzare il nostro Antique Crakle su una superficie verticale, farete bene a fare delle prove per stabilire la tecnica di spennellatura ideale, soprattutto per evitare colature. Non smettete mai di fare pratica e fare dei test. Potete sicuramente leggere libri e seguire dei corsi per guidarvi nelle varie procedure, ma niente garantirà lo stesso risultato come fare pratica con piccoli campioni mescolati in bicchieri di plastica.
(G)QUALITA’DEGLI INGREDIENTI
La nostra vernice di latte contiene calce, proteine del latte, argilla e pigmenti naturali come da tradizione del periodo Coloniale e anche prima. Non utilizziamo piombo né conservanti chimici, nessun idrocarburo né derivati del petrolio. Gli altri ingredienti sono materiale inerte. Tutti i nostri ingredienti sono di alta qualità alimentare e farmaceutica.
(H) TOSSICITA’ZERO
La vernice di latte non è tossica perché non contiene materiali petrolchimici o solventi VOC. Quando umida, la nostra vernice ha un leggero odore di latte che scompare in poche ore. Il calcio idratato è altamente alcalino, antibatterico per natura e abbassa la sua alcalinità quando si catalizza con le proteine acide del latte. Inerte quando asciutto, può comunque mantenere proprietà antibatteriche a seconda del livello di umidità della zona.
(I) TEMPO DI CONSERVAZIONE
Conservare la polvere di vernice sigillata fino al momento del suo utilizzo. Se viene conservata asciutta e in contenitore ermetico, dovrebbe durare per sempre. Se esposta all’aria o all’umidità per un certo periodo, il calcio attivo diventa inerte e si trasforma in gesso. Quando questo succede, la vernice non si mescolerà correttamente e quando applicata potrebbe polverizzarsi. Raccomandiamo di conservare la polvere non utilizzata in un contenitore di vetro o di metallo con una chiusura ermetica.

Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), Nora Martinez (Mía Maestro) and the CDC Canary team are shocked to find four passengers alive, though still infected, causing the CDC team to fear an Ebola-like plague. Despite Ephraim's objections, no quarantines are issued. However, circumstances become dire when it's discovered the virus transforms its victims into vampires. While fighting to stop the spread of the virus, Ephraim, Nora and their team face betrayal and murder, which jeopardize their efforts and the livelihood of all New York City residents.
The second season of this dramatic horror series begins with Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mía Maestro) attempting to create a biological weapon against the infected vampires, known as the strigoi, as the crisis spirals out of control. They're attempts require them to experiment on a recently infected couple, though the Master of the vampires remains relentless in resisting their efforts. Meanwhile, several cities begin aggressive plans to fight the strigoi as the virus spreads and chaos reigns across the country.
It seems like the end for New York City: Its streets are run by strigoi, the government is on the verge of abandoning it, the blood factories Thomas Eicchorst (Richard Sammel) built are up and running, and the bioweapon Eph Goodweather (Corey Stoll) developed is losing its effectivity. Eph himself is sinking fast because of his recent losses. But even though the Master (Robin Atkin Downes) seems to have the upper hand, Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) and Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) have the Occido Lumen, a key to potentially defeating the Master and his strigoi once and for all. The third season of "The Strain" also stars Jonathan Hyde as Eldritch Palmer, Natalie Brown as Kelly Goodweather, Max Charles as Zach Goodweather, Joaquin Cosio as Angel Hurtado, Miguel Gomez as Gus Elizalde, Samantha Mathis as Justine Feraldo, Cas Anvar as Sanjay Desai, Kevin Durand as Fet, and Ruta Gedmintas as Dutch Velders.

Season 8 of the military drama opens with a shipping container setting off alarms at LAX, and Homeland Security requesting the NCIS squad to look into the problem. In Season 4 of "Arrow," Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes up the mantle of "Green Arrow" and begins to work with the city police to take down the Ghosts, a gang led by the powerful Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). In his public life, Oliver is convinced to run for mayor after the other candidates are assassinated or scared away, putting him and his loved ones in the firing line. He also makes a shocking discovery that jeopardizes his relationship with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). La settima stagione inizia con Callen totalmente concentrato sulla ricerca di informazioni su Arkady, lasciando Sam e gli altri all'oscuro di tutto. Hetty ordina di fermare questa operazione non autorizzata e fortunatamente la squadra riesce a riportare Callen in carreggiata. Nel corso della stagione Kensi e Deeks dovranno agire sotto copertura nei panni di un'assistente di una modella e del suo autista, Sam inizierà a cercare un suo ex collega scomparso durante un'esplosione e l'agente speciale Anthony DiNozzo della squadra di Washington aiuterà il gruppo di Los Angeles a rintracciare un prigioniero scappato da un volo aereo.
La squadra NCIS deve affrontare un caso molto delicato legato al terrorismo. Nonostante non siano d'accordo, Sam, Cullen, Deeks e Kensi sono chiamati a partecipare a un'operazione guidata dal Dipartimento della Difesa. Quando il Sottosegretario per la Difesa prende il controllo dell'ufficio progetti speciali per paura che sia stato compromesso, la squadra parte per la Siria per cercare di fermare un complotto terroristico. La missione ha esito positivo, pur lasciando un membro della squadra severamente ferito. Un altro componente del gruppo confessa di essere una talpa e dovrà affrontare le conseguenze. Nel corso della stagione la squadra dovrà indagare su vari omicidi, rapimenti e casi di spionaggio, oltre a dimostrare che il loro collega non ha tradito la nazione.
Oliver decide di diventare il vigilante di Star City adottando il nome di Green Arrow e inizia a lavorare con la polizia per sconfiggere gli Spettri, una banda criminale guidata dal potente Damien Darhk. Nella sua vita pubblica Oliver mette a rischio la sicurezza dei suoi cari quando decide di candidarsi a sindaco dopo che gli altri candidati sono stati uccisi o scoraggiati con altri mezzi. Inoltre, scoprirà un segreto che rischierà di compromettere la sua relazione con Felicity. Nel frattempo, Laurel e Thea convincono Malcolm ad aiutarle a riportare in vita Sara e Felicity fa di tutto per trovare Ray. Intanto Donna, la madre di Felicity, si avvicina molto a Quentin mentre John scopre la verità su suo fratello. L'ottavo episodio della serie conclude il crossover con The Flash e viene considerato episodio pilota di Legends of Tomorrow.

Source text - Italian Arte, musica e danza a Pietrasanta (Lucca)
Da giugno a ottobre un ricco calendario di eventi renderà l’estate di Pietrasanta molto speciale.
Lo scultore uruguaiano Pablo Atchugarry inaugura la sua mostra “The evolution of dream” sabato 8 giugno. Le sculture realizzate in marmo e bronzo sono esposte tra la piazza centrale di Pietrasanta e la rotonda del Pontile di Tonfano.
Dal 1˚ luglio al 28 agosto il Festival La Versiliana propone incontri di spettacolo e cultura con una edizione speciale per festeggiare le sue quaranta candeline.
Per la danza dal 16 al 29 giugno si svolgeranno dodici spettacoli con coreografi del mondo per il Dap Festival (Danza in Arte Pietrasanta) e per la musica classica dal 19 al 28 luglio si terrà la rassegna internazionale curata dal violinista e direttore d' orchestra Michael Guttman.
Una piacevole novità dal 6 all' 8 settembre sarà il Festival Dell' Alta Cucina, con chef stellati, cooking show, ed eventi a tema.
Il 14 settembre tutti alla Festa sul Pontile, e il 5 e 6 ottobre, il gran finale con le sfilate in costume e gli sbandieratori della Pietrasanta Medioevale.
Quattro musei, tra cui la casa di Giosuè Carducci a Valdicastello, saranno ad ingresso libero. Piazze e strade e aree pubbliche diventeranno una galleria a cielo aperto con decine di sculture da Botero a Mitoraj a Cascella e molti altri.
Le vacanze estive dalla nonna
Alberto e Simone sono fratelli e abitano in una città vicino al mare.
Alberto ha nove anni e frequenta la scuola elementare.
Simone è più grande, ha dodici anni e frequenta la scuola media.
A metà giugno la scuola finisce e finalmente iniziano le vacanze estive.
Alberto e Simone trascorrono molto tempo dalla nonna Anna perché i loro genitori lavorano.
Ogni mattina la nonna accompagna i nipoti al mare. Alberto e Simone passano ore a tuffarsi nell’acqua fresca e fare castelli di sabbia sulla spiaggia.
All’ora di pranzo si torna a casa e la nonna prepara un piatto di pasta al pomodoro oppure pomodori freschi e mozzarella.
Dopo pranzo nonna Anna fa un pisolino mentre Alberto e Simone lavano i piatti e poi giocano in giardino.
La nonna abita con due gatti. Uno si chiama Sabatino perché è stato trovato un sabato pomeriggio. L’altro si chiama Nuvola perché quel giorno il cielo era nuvoloso.
Quando Alberto e Simone sono dalla nonna si prendono cura di Sabatino e Nuvola con tante coccole e croccantini. A volte li fanno giocare con una pallina di carta.
E quando arriva il pomeriggio la nonna prepara ottime torte e biscotti per la merenda dei suoi nipoti.
Che bello trascorrere le vacanze estive da nonna Anna!
Granita a colazione
La colazione è il primo pasto della giornata e per molti è il pasto più importante.
In passato, soprattutto nell’ Italia settentrionale, il primo pasto del mattino si chiamava prima colazione, e il pasto di mezzogiorno si chiamava seconda colazione, ora conosciuto con la parola “pranzo”.
Generalmente gli italiani la mattina mangiano cose dolci come biscotti, pane con cioccolata o marmellata, cereali oppure cornetti, accompagnati da caffè, tè o cappuccino.
Alcune persone preferiscono lo stile anglosassone con affettati misti, formaggio e uova.
Nella splendida Sicilia, durante l’estate, la colazione è particolare e unica.
Per iniziare la giornata con freschezza, a colazione si mangia la granita con la brioscia.
La granita è un dolce freddo fatto con acqua e zucchero con aggiunta di frutta o caffè. Il composto viene ghiacciato lentamente e continuamente mescolato per rimanere cremoso.
La brioscia è fatta con pasta lievitata all’uovo aromatizzata alla vaniglia o agli agrumi.

Mettete del caffè con acqua e zucchero in un pentolino di metallo e lasciatelo raffreddare nel freezer. Mescolate ogni mezz’ora e dopo tre ore la vostra granita al caffè sarà pronta! E se volete extra dolcezza, aggiungete sopra della panna montata e godetevi la granita!

From June to October a rich calendar of events will make Summer in Pietrasanta very special.
The Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry opens his exhibition “The evolution of dream” on Saturday June 8. The sculptures made of marble and bronze can be seen between the central square of Pietrasanta and the roundabout of the Pontile of Tonfano.
From July 1 to August 28 La Versiliana festival offers shows and cultural events with a special edition to celebrate its fortieth anniversary.
For dance, from June 16 to 29, twelve shows will be taking place with worldwide choreographers for the Dap Festival (Dance in Art Pietrasanta) and for classical music, from July 19 to 28, there will be the international musical festival curated by violinist and conductor Michael Guttman.
A refreshing change from September 6 to 8 will be the Festival of Haute Cuisine, with star chefs, cooking show and thematic events
On September 14 everybody ready for the party at the Pontile and October 5 and 6 the grand finale with parades in old costumes and flag wavers of Medieval Pietrasanta.
Four museums, including Giosuè Carducci house in Valdicastello, will be with free admission. Squares and streets and public areas will become an open-air gallery with tens of sculptures from Botero to Mitoraj to Cascella and many more.
Summer holidays at grandma’s
Alberto and Simone are brothers and they live in a town near the sea.
Alberto is nine years old and he is attending primary school.
Simone is older, he is twelve years old and he is attending secondary school.
In mid-June school ends and finally Summer holidays begin.
Alberto and Simone spend much time at grandma Anna’s as their parents work.
Every morning grandma takes her nephews to the seaside. Alberto and Simone spend hours diving in the fresh water and building sandcastles on the beach.
At lunch time they return home and grandma prepares a pasta dish or fresh tomatoes with mozzarella cheese.
After lunch grandma Anna takes a nap while Alberto and Simone wash the dishes and then play in the garden.
Grandma lives with two cats. One is called Sabatino as it was found on a Saturday afternoon. The other is called Nuvola as that day the sky was cloudy.
When Alberto and Simone are at grandma’s they take care of Sabatino and Nuvola with lots of cuddles and kibbles. Sometimes they make them play with a paper ball.
And when the afternoon arrives grandma prepares delicious pies and cookies for her nephew’s snack.
How wonderful spending Summer holidays at grandma Anna’s!
Slushie for breakfast
Breakfast is the first meal of the day and for many it is the most important one.
In the past, especially in Northern Italy, the first meal in the morning was called first breakfast, and the midday meal was called second breakfast, now known with the word “lunch”.
Usually in the morning Italians eat sweet things like biscuits, bread with chocolate or jam, cereals or croissants, together with coffee, tea or cappuccino.
Some people prefer the English style with cold cuts, cheese and eggs.
In beautiful Sicily, during Summer, breakfast is peculiar and unique.
To start the day with freshness, for breakfast you eat a slushie and a brioche.
The “granita” (Italian for slushie) is a cold pudding made with water and sugar adding fruit or coffee. The mix is slowly frozen and continuously stirred to make it stay creamy.
The “brioscia” (Italian for brioche) is made with yeast egg dough flavoured with vanilla or citrus fruit.
Do you want to surprise your friends with a true Sicilian granita?
Put some coffee with water and sugar in a metal pan and let it cool in the freezer. Stir the mix every half hour and after three hours your coffee granita will be ready! And if you wish for extra sweetness, add some whipped cream on the top and enjoy your granita!
