Bio
Raf Uzar
I've been working in translation and linguistics now for over 20 years but I began my 'education' just after being born. My father was born of Polish parents in Uganda and later moved to England. My mother was born in Poland. The two met in England where I was born. I'm both bilingual and bicultural.
Education
I studied at Lancaster University and finished with an honours degree in Linguistics and English Language, I then did an MA in English Philology at Łódź University in Poland.
Recent Career
I currently work for international law firm Magnusson as Training and Development Manager and cooperate with the publishing house of UKSW university where I edit and proof the Polish Review of International and European Law.
Career
I began my multicultural work in Japan where I taught English. I later moved to Łódź, Poland and worked at Łódź University where I specialised in corpus linguistics and translation and helped set up Poland's first ever corpus project - The PELCRA project. After working in Łódź for several years teaching corpus linguistics, translation and interpreting I moved to the capital city Warsaw. There I trained translators and interpreters at the University of Social Psychology - SWPS and the University of Warsaw. I have also worked as an editor and translator for Polish News Bulletin - Legal Supplement as well as Newsweek Polska. I worked as a voice-over for the European Film Academy and worked in journalism, for Polish National Radio - 'Czwórka', where I had my own weekend morning show.
