Bio
Dear Sir/Madam,
With a regard to HR screening, normally, my CV will nearly be ignored since I have no degree or diplomas to prove my abilities. Moreover, telling about oneself is not easy since it will be a little bit subjective and the reader will always bear in mind that how percentage of truth is hidden under the words! How matter it is, kindly give me a chance to tell you my story.
Not knowing the time when I love reading foreign books but I remember the first book my mother bought for me was a Bible book because she was a pious Catholic. I was surprised its meaning and wonder its original language. From then on, whenever I had a book of novel, poems etc… in my hands I devour them, even forgetting my meals and got scolded by my parents. When growing up, I knew that reading the books in its original language was more interesting and entertaining. Simultaneously, I admired the translators who translated them into Vietnamese, I set up a goal for myself that I would become a translator in future. I also knew that I had to learn much more English and Vietnamese, even knowledge of literature, philosophy, geology, history and psychology…
A fortune had come to me as a friend of mine, who worked for MBL company, suggested me a chance to be an interpreter, yet, a true chance was that a Sister of Order of Preacher offer me to a job as her translator to translate the Christian books of theology and philosophy in English for her Order 3 years ago. It was great for me at that time.
Doing as a translator I contact the famous authors in the world and, therefore my knowledge was open wide and my experiences of translation were better. This has been making me feel each emotion of life. Why? Because a poem has its layers , understanding a layer is understanding a side of my emotion. So and more are philosophical and literature books. Such is existentialism. Heidegger talked about “Existence and There”. It means when you live in somewhere with all what you are, it is that your existence is there. People can see you as you are at present, and it is meaning of life. Sometimes books are like friends. They also will help me to overcome troubles in life.
As translating those books, I love to bring them to my Vietnamese people, I mean that I want my people to contact different cultures in the world and they also have chances to entertain the famous books like me to discover the diversity in life and find out who they are and how to live a meaningful life. So anytime i put the pen down to papers for translating I will often try my best to convey its exact meaning into Vietnamese although translation implies anti-translation according to an Italian maxim.
I also know that I must try to learn more and more so that at least my translation are like bringing a delicious dish to my people, but also giving the way how to do this dish. I mean my people can not only entertain the beauty but create the beauty also, to do this,
The more my knowledge is wide and deep, the more I love to try to translate another field. So when I see your ads in newspaper to seek out a translator, I know it is the best chance for me. I say to myself that it is my dreaming wish. In fact, I love to become your co-operator of you. If you do not pay too much attention to diplomas, but love creation, I think, the spirit of perfection, the desire of learning, the creation, the sense of humor, the perceptibility of beauty and literature of me are caught by your eyes. If you accept me, you also will know who I am, what I have in order to give to you and where you and I can go to. I mean I have a spirit of seeking perfection and learning. I hope to have a chance to show that to you.
I dare to choose my dream to start my story. It is a normal dream of becoming a good helper in life. I am not good looking, so I choose to let everyone to pay attention to what I am more than what I look. I spent my time to learn everything that interests me in becoming a matured person. It is about literature, history, theology, philosophy, psychology, even computer…Thanks to internet, I learn a lot without fees. I also learn a lot via watching the attitudes of people who live around me and my career as well as my religion. Day by day, learning by doing, I know more of myself.
My communication skills are strong and sensitive enough to express what my thoughts are. Especially, my writing and translation skills are perfect. Being now a project manager, my logic analysis is sharpen everyday since I have to define and sort what project is, what translation area is, who translator should be chosen to handle it…Used to be HR officer, I archived some basic knowledge of Vietnam labor code. Eager to learn or fast-learner is one of my best strong points. I quickly adapt to the new work area. The proof is that I am the person who knows the online translation systems most in team. I am though not certified officially by any university because of my financial status at that time, I try my best to self-study a lot. I love history, philosophy, psychology, literature... My writings were posted in Nguoi Lao Dong paper. My current manager more than once said that she never regretted to offer my current position. Frankly, I cannot sleep without a book front of my eyes!
As an APM and then PM, the customer’s satisfaction is my top point. To meet this point, I always give out the best service to customer. The service is ranked regard of the customer level and requirements. It is vital to understand what a small thing a customer requires is. Anything fooled or deceitful is not acceptable, though in real work some situations are out of my reach, I try to convince my team to try the best to find out a best solution or re-define what gets us in stuck. The evaluation outcome often helps us to know more of our capacity and our customer’s requirement. I am ready to say sorry for my mistakes but never allows me to put the customer in a bad situation even. In real work, if I know that I cannot meet the deadline, the requirement from the customer, I will let the customer know and tell his/her that I can help to look for a outsource and be ready to be a bridge for them. I do NOT want to lose my image to the customer.
Working for an online translation company, based on project by project, I never set any fixed timeframe, rules of working… It is a crazy thing because there is no two projects that are exactly identical as they are a twin project. The project can be in the same system, the same style, the same requirement but its content may be different. There is always at least one smallest point that makes me to know that it is not possible to apply the same rule of this project to that project. The idea of creation is required to adapt the nature of the project. Being a PM always asks me to supervise and support each activity of each member so as to enable us to work efficiently in an individual and interactive way. No hero exists in my team! We all share a spirit of cooperation and team building. Being a PM also asks me to have a time management, not my time, but my team's as well. No excuse for any reason if I could not deliver at the deadline. The workload requires my team to work OT at any time if any and asks me how to balance the workload and re-assign it to each member so as to meet the deadline. Sometime, the extension of deadline is not avoidable for a better quality delivery to the customer. In this case, I have to let the customer know that we did try my best to meet their requirement and the extension is out of my control for that the online translation system was on and off sometime and we could not do anything, but wait for its working again. This action of communication requires going back and forth. It asks me to be patient to the customer. Fortunately, "yes" is often a word I hear from the customer. Why? Because my team did try my best. No one can do it better than us.
Being a team leader does not mean that I am the best in the team. No hero exists in my team! Any action of showing off as hero is not encouraged in team because no one can cover a project without the others’ support. It is a nature of working on project. I respect the strong and weak points of each member in my team so as to assign the right work list to the right person. I get used to learning their emotions and try to encourage them in increasing their productivity as well as their quality. I dare to let them free in their work. I often do enthusiastically the presentations to train them for new systems.
• My strong point is that I am a person who loves to learn and mainly self-study. I read a lot of books such as literature, history, theology, philosophy, psychology, … I can work under pressure, work overtime, I am easy to adapt in a strange environment. I am nice to everyone and have a spirit of team building. I have an ability of self-study. I have some writings that were posted in Vietnamese papers/magazines, one of them was attached at the below of this C.V. I got a Certificate of Acknowledgement of my Performance as Assistant Project Manager

• My weak point is that I could not get degree/diploma of university because of my financial status at that point and my outlook is not good-looking since I am 145 cm tall, however, as compensation, I have full commitment to my career of translation and experience of management. If you do not pay too much attention to the appearance or/and diplomas of a person, but look for a person who thinks of career part of life, not a job; it is me. You will not be regretful if you choose me as your accompany of growth of your company.

I hope that my story will not make you more boring than before reading it.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,

NGUYEN HUY HOANG
