How easy is it to learn?

overpriced and full of bugs
Review by
Michael Tovbin . Really, the only reason to spend money on Trados is because, like Microsoft in the operating system world, it is the de-facto standard for CAT. I have known and used Trados on and off since 1997 (Version 2). I did not recommend it to my company then, and I would not do it now. Suffice it to say, that they have been unable to fix their number recognition engine in 20 years. Why does it still convert 3.2.4 in the source into 4.2.3 in the target? Why does it SEE numbering at all?

How easy is it to learn?

Very powerful set of tools, all enhancing the work of a professional translator and project manager.
Review by
alexika . A very powerful set of tools, all enhancing the work of a professional translator and project manager. The new ribbon layout makes it easier to access some of the more commonly used and also some of the advanced features. Can process a wide range of formats very easily. Thoroughly recommended.

How easy is it to learn?

Powerful tool, fulfills all my translation and localization needs
Review by
Jonathan Golan . SDL Trados Studio 2014 follows in the long line of Trados tools that I have used for 12 years now. This is a powerful tool, with extremely advanced capabilities for handling numerous file formats. In my opinion, it offers more advanced capabilities than other tools, which is a powerful option, especially for more advanced users. AutoSuggest is a feature that further improves productivity. AS a user of other tools as well, this is truly the most advanced of its kind!

How easy is it to learn?

Still the market leader and for integration in a class of its own
Review by
Abrigela . I've used Trados for at least 12 years and whilst it does suffer from some clunky processes I still use it as my main tool. The old Trados allowed us to streamline many processes using the API and it did take a little while to move to the new version. But now we are there I believe it is second to none and we have managed to streamline many processes ourselves and integrate some of our other business systems and applications which would not be possible with any other tool.
The new 2014 version seems to be a lot faster, and I mean a lot! We do have some other tools in use but even when we use them to prepare work for any translator not using Trados we still do the initial prep in Trados Studio because it's much faster.
The new ribbon is a great step forward and we have found it far easier to encourage translators working with the older Trados to move because it's more intuitive and provides many built in help features. Once the basics are mastered it's far easier to find your way around the more complex things than any tool I've used. We have memoq, deja vu and wordfast available too.
Despite the negative opinions written by some users I would have no hesitation recommending this tool to anyone and we don't have nearly so many problems as you often see reported here.

How easy is it to learn?

Very useful for large-scale or repetitive projects
Review by
STAR7 . Great tool when working with websites, e-learning courses, apps, or other similarly-built platforms. Takes a while to learn and is not intuitive, but will perform well when set up and applied properly. Troubleshooting is difficult and response time (due to time zone differences) can be delayed and therefore result in delays of projects. Would highly recommend for any large-scale or repetitive project or one with a complex file/folder structure.
