Normal Jul 28, 2019

I've had three translations totaling 33,000 words. One was a breeze, another was typical, and the third one has been driving me crazy.

Busy Jul 28, 2019

I've invoiced just over 92,000 words so far. Not a record but a busy month. It's a good time of year for business with many colleagues on leave. I live in Algarve and avoid the coast in July and August. I can rather enjoy it the rest of the year, when it's cooler and much quieter.

There was no "completely nuts" option.

Very busy Jul 28, 2019

It has been very busy (much busier than the last 5 years, both in number of projects and in number of words). I have been working every day since the beginning of the month with only one weekend’s rest. August will probably be much quieter, though we never know…

simply amazing Jul 29, 2019

best month ever ... and no end in sight. But I'm sure that sooner or later there will be slower times again.

Not busy Jul 30, 2019

I did not work in July at home.

I was busy with something else personal.
Generally, in summer in the UAE where I work and live, the market recesses because no conference no events as in winter.

Other - bizarre fits and starts Jul 31, 2019

I think, overall, July has been about average for me, or perhaps a little higher than average - but I picked "other" in the poll because the pattern of work within the month has been like nothing I've ever seen!

I'm not sure if it's connected to the heatwave we've had over here in Western Europe, but there have been stretches of multiple days with absolutely zero work (perfect time to go and have an ice cream!), followed by stretches where I've worked until the wee hours (certainly

I'm not sure if it's connected to the heatwave we've had over here in Western Europe, but there have been stretches of multiple days with absolutely zero work (perfect time to go and have an ice cream!), followed by stretches where I've worked until the wee hours (certainly not my preferred tactic, but make hay when the sun shines, and all that!).

Obviously, freelance work is particularly prone to these periods of feast or famine, but this is the first time I'd seen such striking swings even within a month!

I thought I'd already answered this poll, but I don't see my post. Maybe it was another similar poll...
