massaging my ego 2 Jul 21, 2020

Five minutes.
Sometimes it takes the same amount of time to go to bed after I finish working. I take long breaks in between, though.

That's a pretty wild assumption right there.

About an hour Jul 21, 2020

After I take a shower and have my breakfast, I’ll be checking my email, and then I go out with my dog for 20/30 minutes. After that it all depends if I have translation or editing work or no work at all.

A couple of hours Jul 21, 2020

After shower and breakfast, I'll read newspapers and periodicals. Usually, these things take up two hours. Thereafter, I'll be translating. If the work is very urgent, I skip newspapers and start translating.

At least an hour Jul 21, 2020

I think it's nice to have some 'sacred' time in the morning befrore entering the disaster zone that is the email inbox. I do a bit of reading over breakfast, otherwise I won't fit it into my day.

About an hour Jul 21, 2020

Before I start working, I have to make some coffee and read my e-mails. Many of these e-mails imply other tasks, like entering new jobs into my control system, replying queries, etc. Then I check the ProZ Polls and KudoZ.

Disappointed Jul 21, 2020

Nobody has yet claimed freelancers don’t have the time to sleep.

Or that it’s nobody else’s business. Or yet another pointless poll.

As for me, well, it depends who I wake up next to and whether they feel like massaging my ego 🙄

Slow start Jul 21, 2020

I start my days slow and late, and when I turn on my computer I don't translate immediately, I'll normally check emails and deadlines and my to-do-list and forums and such until I feel I've reached my cruising speed (and caffeine level). Most of my translation work happens in afternoons and evenings.

Other Jul 21, 2020

I've trained my subconscious mind to translate while I'm asleep.

almost immediately Jul 21, 2020

5 minutes.
Then after 1 hour I have a short breakfast for a shower and breakfast.

Same thing when I wake up after a nap.

I don't know Jul 21, 2020

I don't keep track of my time early in the morning. Definitely not before my first cup of black gold.

But the time between waking up and starting to translate varies, also depending on possible other appointments.
