Profile

Hi there! My name is Darío Damián Di Franco and I am the CEO of Game on Words. We are a group of young, highly motivated, creative, hard-working and detail-oriented professionals and language lovers, expert translators and localizers in the field of videogame. In order to have the highest possible output, we are able to focus on the documents to be translated with the maximum amount of concentration. We are accurate, reliable and experts in dealing with problems on a professional level, especially under stress and tight deadlines. Lastly, we are loyal and dedicated to our profession and, particularly, to you, our clients! We absolutely LOVE what we do!

I would like to point out these key characteristics of our group:

  • Excellent sense of humor.
  • Reliable and hard workers.
  • Comprehensive and thorough research skills.
  • Highly efficient communicators. Good at improving enthusiasm and motivation in other people.
  • Proactive and self-disciplined group of professionals.
  • Open-minded people, accepting criticism of all kind.
  • Goal-oriented and action-taker.

Gaming is, by far, our main field of work, and we absolutely love it! On a personal level, in the last 12 years, I've translated/proofread more than 14,000,000 words. As you can imagine, during these ten years, I've experienced everything a gamer translator needs to experience: I've translated games, proofread games, supervised recording sessions, fixed bugs, tested the games and a loooong etcetera. I am also a fierce gamer, which definitely gives me an edge! I do not only translate nor play videogames; I am also a board game and RPG pen-and-paper enthusiast and lover! In our offices, we have a huge game collection of more than 50 board games, zillions of Magic the Gathering cards and every console available (we even have a SEGA Genesis and a Famicom!) and we adore playing with them when searching for ideas and inspiration. Oh, and I almost forgot: we're also game designers! We're working now on two board games that hopefully will be released in 2022 :D

At Game on Words you will find the linguistic solutions you are looking for on time and with the highest quality ever. We strive to provide easily readable translations, containing appropriate and consistent terminology. More important, we strive to capture the essence of your message. We believe it is very important, when making a cultural bridge, to communicate your ideas and to say what you intended. As we work, we continuously check for consistency and terminology usage. We then compare the first draft with the English / Japanese version. Finally, we check the Spanish translation for fluency and meaning, to ensure that the writing is simple and clear, as conveys what the author intended. We always go beyond the translation barrier and "think" the games as if we were the ones creating them, because we think that's the only way to be truly honest with the developers and with the intended audience. "Disrespecting" the original text a bit is super healthy for the translation process; sadly, today the gaming world is riddled with unnatural translations, simply because translators just glue themselves to the original text and fail to provide what the market needs.

I have been in the gaming industry for the last 12 uninterrupted years, and I have translated, proofread and adapted more than 14,000,000 words during that time. These are some of the games and platforms I had the privilege of working in: Steam (all the Latin American interface of the Steam platform is my work!), Challengermode (esport app), Eldorado (esports betting website), AFK Journey (complete translation of LATAM Spanish and PT-BR, credited!), Overwatch IIARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON (credited!), Sandland (credited!), High On Life, EchocalypseImmortal AwakeningYs VI: The Ark Of Napishtim, Dying Light II, Soundfall (credited!), Infinite Guitars (credited!), Dislyte, Genshin Impact, Breathedge (credited!), Unsighted (credited!), AFK Arena, Warpath, Rise of KindgomsECHOCALYPSEAPEX: Legends, Zoids Wild, Atone, Art of ConquestTales of Wind, Game of Mafia, Idle Champions (D&D), Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, A Plague Tale: Innocence (only LATAM translator!), Rocket Star, Sports City, Idle Museum, Soul Calibur 6, Wargaming Games (WoT, WoA, WoW and Pagan Online, ongoing projects since 2018 and counting!), Epic Seven, Artifact, Ben 10 II, Trollhunters: Defender of Arcadia, FIFA 2018/2019/2020/2021/2022/2023 (ongoing projects since 2017 and counting!), The Surge, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, The Witcher III and its two expansions (only Latin American translator and credited!), Overwatch, WOW, Diablo III, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls (credited!), Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void (credited!), Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm (credited!), Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm (credited!), One Piece: World Seekers, Dragon Ball Xenoverse II, RIGS, Torment: Tides of Numenera (credited!), Life is Strange: Before the Storm, BEN 10 2017, Interplanet, Continent of the Ninth (C9), Choice of the Dragon, Artic Combat, Warface III, Dead rising III, Project Spark, Wooparoo Island, Brave Frontier, Age of Empires: Castle Siege, PES 2015, Moto GP 2014, RIDE, Wakfu, Astronest, Monster Legends, Numbie: The World of Math (complete with professional Spanish dubbing) and more than 200 minor online games.

I translated almost the entire website into Spanish, I managed a group of more than 40 translators from Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, German, China, Brazil, Portugal, Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, Japan and Hong Kong, and then I served as interpreter between the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional of Bolivia and IEDRO during 7 days in the city of La Paz.

Cooperative Education (http://www.coeduc.org/). NGO that helps Guatemalan schoolchildren to break the cycle of poverty through education. I translated some 3000 words.

Lions Center for the Blind (http://www.lbcenter.org/), with the Spanish translation of documents and website content. 2000 words approximately.

Aflatoun World (www.aflatounworld.org), with the Spanish translation of their website. 4000 words approximately.

Hobbies / Other Interests

  • Passionate writer, especially of short stories, novels and movie scripts.
  • Words and languages. All of them!
  • Backpacking tourism lover.
  • Very keen on films, cinema studies and photography.
