株式会社エヌ・ティ・ティ・ドコモ（NTTドコモ）は、高速な文字認識を可能にする技術を開発し、その応用例として、外国語の料理メニューを瞬時に日本語で表示するAndroid向け翻訳アプリ「料理メニュー翻訳」を提供開始した。Androidマーケットから無料でダウンロード可能で、2012年1月16日までの期間限定または積算利用時間1000分まで利用できる。対応OSはAndroid 2.1以上。
同アプリは同社のAndroidスマートフォンに対応した翻訳アプリで、英語・中国語・韓国語に対応。カメラ越しに外国語メニューの料理名を表示させるだけで日本語訳を同画面にすばやく表示させることが可能で、画面上の共有ボタンを押すことで検索サイトにリンクして料理を調べることもできる。外国語を和訳するだけでなく、日本語を外国語に翻訳することも可能だ。 | Translation - English
NTT DoCoMo, Inc. (NTT) has developed a technology which makes high-speed character recognition possible. To show how this technology can be applied in real life, the company has released the "Menu Translator" app for Android, an app which can instantly translate foreign language menus in to Japanese. The app can be downloaded for free on Android Market and can be used for either a fixed period up to 16th January 2012 or for up to a maximum of 1000 minutes. It runs on Android 2.1 and up.
The "Menu Translator" application released by NTT for Android smartphones supports English, Chinese, and Korean. Just by using the smartphone camera to display a dish name on a foreign language menu, the app is able to display a Japanese translation on the screen almost instantly. Also, by clicking on the onscreen share button it links to search engines where more information about the dish can be found. The app is able to translate not only foreign language menus in to Japanese, but also Japanese menus in to other languages. |
