The problems wrought by globalization require global coordinated action and response which implies the need for a global authority. But the international organizations that are entrusted with such a task, such as the UN, are in need of revision. Towards this end, the UN recently released a report prepared by a **blue-ribbon committee** commissioned by the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan on how to make the UN more relevant to the times.
