Powwow: Vancouver, B.C. - Canada
|
location and date | Dec 1, 2001 |
Dear friends, As I may assume, nobody else will join us. It seems to me that the Richmond location I previously mentioned is not good. I am not quite sure but who live in Richmond? Probably none of the attendees (us). Let's look into it.
Hi, all, Time is getting short and we haven't set a place yet. I am new to Vancouver, so can't be of much use. We are looking for a quiet pleasant coffee shop somewhere central with lots of parking. Any suggestions?
How about the Mongolie Grill on Broadway and Cambie - it should be very quiet on Saturday afternoon, and there is street parking.

Does this Saturday, Dec. 15 at 4 pm. suit everyone? Would anyone be able and willing to take a couple of pictures with a digital camera? I am waiting to hear from Henry with respect to any ProZ additions to the program and will keep you posted. Looking forward to meeting you all, Evelyna ▲ Collapse
Lota Estados Unidos Local time: 08:58 Miembro 2007 inglés al polaco + ... Mongolie Grill | Dec 11, 2001 |
The place sounds fine with problem: is there anything else to eat other than meat there? Once I went to a Mongolian restaurant only to find that there was no possibility of a salad or vegetables. Very carnivorous. Nothing against that but would prefer a place with options. Thanks. Cheers. I will be thinking of a place as well.
Lota Estados Unidos Local time: 08:58 Miembro 2007 inglés al polaco + ...
Just up the street from Mongolie Grill is a place called Beetnix. I have never been there but the name guarantees (in my mind) at least one vegetable. should I check it out? ask the owners about quiet/availability?

FPE Canadá inglés al francés + ... Hello friends; | Dec 11, 2001 |
May I suggest the "Atrium" space in Woodlands, a vegetrian-friendly restaurant on Broadway (1 block to McDonald). There is no cost to reserve that gathering area of the restaurant only advance notice or reservation is needed. Woodlands: 604-733-5411, 2581 Broadway Ave. W. fine with me | Dec 11, 2001 |
Saturday, Dec. 15 at 4 pm is fine with me. Sorry no digital camera. All places suggested fine as far as location is concerned. To help decision, what cuisine does the Atrium serve?
FPE Canadá inglés al francés + ... Woodlands - good healthy vegan fare | Dec 12, 2001 |
Numerous vegetarian dishes; no meat, fish, fowl or eggs. Vegetarian; vegan options. I do like their "pay-by-the-weight" option, a good choice of desserts and coffees too. Florence

Lota Estados Unidos Local time: 08:58 Miembro 2007 inglés al polaco + ... Vladimir and the Women? | Dec 12, 2001 |
I am not sure if Vladimir will attend. If he does, he will be surrounded by women. Not a bad deal perhaps but where are the local men translators?
Final notice | Dec 13, 2001 |
Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I made a reservation for Saturday, Dec. 15, at 4 pm, at the Woodlands, 604-733-5411, at 2581 Broadway Ave. W. The entrance is off Trafalgar Street, and there is parking in the back. As far as directions go, coming east on Broadway, you need to turn left on Trafalgar and left again in the lane. I hope that everyone will find something they like, and there will always be the company... See more Thank you all for your help and suggestions. The name for the reservation is Evelyna, or the Powwow. And to answer Lota's question - we will have one other male colleague joining us (hopefully), he is just not able to post;-) I look forward to meeting you all on Saturday. Evelyna ▲ Collapse
