: 其实这儿的“你”并不是真正的“你”，正如前面的“你”一样。实际说的还是产品。意思是说，咱卖的是商品，不是不可替代的，你要没点儿特色、没点儿创新，人家就没人要你。这正是口语中“you”的用法。这和汉语中谈到自己的产品时说“你不过也就是一件商品，不是无法替代的什么宝贝”一样，“你”虽然是对着人说的，但并不是在说人。当然，关键的因素还是人，不过那得从另一个角度来理解了。

在美国商界里，当把人或别的一些东西比喻成"commodity"的时候，其实是引用了"commodity goods"的定义。Commodity goods 是指在世界交易市场Commodity Futures Exchange（比如NYMEX - New York Mercantile Exchange)上随时可以得到报价的货品，包括石油，黄金等各种金属，大麦，玉米，咖啡等多种粮食食品，棉花。这些货品在这些交易所上已经有了非常规范的质量/数量的标准，所以当每天新闻媒体报道当天的石油，黄金，咖啡的价格是已无需再去解释具体是什么类型的石油，或是什么K金的黄金，或是哪个品种的咖啡了。这是最原始对commodity goods的定义。当把劳力说成是commodity 的时候就是说这些员工都是很容易就可以被取代的，随时都可以找到一大堆的，工资也不相上下的“商品”，其实也就是一种比较含蓄的说员工的技术性，独特性比较低，因而很容易被取代。
