I am intent on taking my freelance translation business to the next level in 2020, making it my main professional activity and emphasizing my areas of specialization: environment and sustainability, permaculture, communication, tourism, education, music.
Since 2009, I have been doing translation work upon request from friends, former colleagues and acquaintances, gaining valuable experience in a variety of fields : communication, press articles, tourism, nautical field, audio-visual production notes, resumes and cover letters, wine and spirits, etc.
My love of translation is rooted in my life story: I was born in the United States to a French mother. Both English and French were spoken at home. I grew up in Iowa before moving to New York and attending the Lycée Français de New York, where classes were in French.
My fields of specialization reflect my diplomas, various professional experiences and passions:
¤ After high school, I moved to Paris where I earned a master's degree in international and environmental law. My first translation experiences came while working as a lawyer in American law firms in Paris. I pursued my education by moving to La Rochelle to earn a master's degree in environmental management and sustainability from a business school.
¤ Since childhood I have been practicing and playing music, attending music schools and private classes in classical, jazz and popular styles. Simultaneously to translating, I taught piano to children and adults for almost 10 years.
¤ In 2015, I founded and directed the parent-run Montessori by the Sea school in La Rochelle.
¤ Our new family project is running a permaculture farm in Southwestern France.
