disagree Otha Nash : you could perhaps say, "tending toward increase" if you want to use "tend" in a phrase that fits grammatically in the English translation. But I don't think "tend to" is the best rendering of تتجه إلى in this context.

Trending upward: sure - the text sounds effective, sophisticated and interesting. Also, good use of grammar (present continuous). Bound also works well. (both trend and bound have the meaning of يتجه).
