ΕΠΑΡΧΙΑΚΗ ΔΙΟΙΚΗΣΗ
Για διοικητικούς λόγους, η Κύπρος είναι διαιρεμένη σε έξι επαρχίες. Κάθε επαρχίας προϊσταται ο Επαρχος, ο οποίος είναι ανώτερος δημόσιος υπάλληλος που διορίζεται από την Κυβέρνηση ως τοπικός εκπρόσωπός της. Ο Επαρχος είναι ο συντονιστής και ο σύνδεσμος για τις δραστηριότητες όλων των Υπουργείων στην επαρχία του και υπάγεται στο Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών. Οι Επαρχοι δεν είναι εκλελεγμένες τοπικές ή περιφερειακές αρχές, αλλά μέρος της δημόσιας υπηρεσίας.

DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION
For the purpose of administration, Cyprus is divided into six districts. Each district is headed by a District Officer, who is a senior civil servant appointed by the Government as its local representative. The District Officer is the chief coordinator and liaison for the activities of all Ministries in the District and is accountable to the Ministry of Interior. The district Offices are not elected local or regional authorities, but are part of the civil service.

Cyprus is divided into six administrative districts. These are Nicosia (the island's capital and seat of government), Famagusta, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Kyrenia.
Each district is headed by a District Officer who is essentially the local representative or extended arm of the central government. The District Officer holds a position analogous to Prefect in France and Commissioner in other countries. The District Officer acts as the chief-co-ordinator of the activities of all Ministries in the District.
