Spanish term

Losa cajon de ferrocemento de 6 metros de luz

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
“Diseno, construccion y verificación de una Losa Cajón de Ferrocemento de 6 metros de luz” is the name of a thesis project.

I feel totally lost here, but here is my attempted beginning...

"Design, construction and testing of a flagstone ferrocement ravine..."

I am open to all corrections!!!

Thank you!

6 meter ferrocement earthbag foundation

Hello Allison,

I would translate the full title as:

"Design, construction and testing of 6 meter ferrocement earthbag foundation"

From what it says in this Architecture site ( http://www.todoarquitectura.com/v2/foros/topic.asp?Topic_ID=... ) I gather that "losa cajón" is an "earthbag foundation" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shallow_foundations )

I hope this matches with rest of the contents in the document!

Regards,
Javier
Peer comment(s):

neutral Sergio Campo : An earthbag foundation, as you propose, is made up with earthbags, nothing to do with a "losa cajón". I'd also say the "6 metros de luz" bit rules out this slab from being a foundation slab

hmm... I guess you are right! Thank you
neutral eski : Hi Javier: I concur with Sergio; on both points. Saludos, eski :))

neutral jamorod : Seems to be better than my answer... but: 1) is 6 mt, not ft ; 2) slab goes only for the "losa", but what about the "cajon"?

Hi Javier: I believe it refers to a sunken panel, known as a coffer in English which lends strength to the structure. Saludos & happy holidays. eski :))
