Dear colleagues,
I installed the very new version of Office 2007 and I wonder if it is compatible with Trados 2006. I cannot see the Trados icon in Word and cannot open Excel documents in Tag Editor (which is normally possible with Trados 7).
Is there a setting to enable, something to do, or are those versions definitely not compatible.

Hi Patrick and Ivan,
Yes, Office 2007 (aka Office 12) is still under beta 2.
Previous Trados versions included support for the "new" MS Office documents about a year after release, so my best guess is that we won't see official support for the new file formats (docx, xlsx and other XML based Office docs) until at least early next year.
And, as Office 2007 hasn't been released yet, I guess that your clients won't be sending you docx files next month anyway, ... See more Hi Patrick and Ivan,

Click on Add-Ins.
The Trados-man waving the flags should appear.
Click on the small arrow on the left and the Trados-icons appear.

I managed to find this evening Office XP but when I install it, there again, no Trados icon showing up. You talked about an Add-in. Where is it? I cannot find it in Word, especially as I have a German version. Can you the describe the way to get there please?

Do you mean office XP which is version 10 or Office 12, which is the new version.
In version XP (English version) it is the fifth tab (Option) from your left, the fourth option counting from below (beneath macros, you will find the add-ins).
