To say 'I wouldn't' seems strange to me. I wouldn't what? dare? try? dream of it? care to?

I am wondering Jan 24, 2013

I am wondering whether the pollster is asking us to confess to having written a translation-related article under the ProZ banner.

I wrote one about two years ago: http://www.proz.com/translation-articles/articles/3208/

I find it more satisfying writing the occasional translation-related article on my blog. At least, then, if I feel moved to do so, I can share it on Google+, LinkedIn, and Facebook, where it receives a wider audience.

I learn a lot from what other practising translators write.

This poll seems to be a follow-up poll to the one on "Which translation blogs would you recommend?", or some such. An attempt to encourage non bloggers to write something perhaps? Heh.

Good perspective, Allison. And quite insightful to wonder about that (first paragraph).

First, I don't write anything for Proz, since it's just a company portal, not a social medium that serves my professional interests. I keep a customer-oriented blog to write articles for the benefit of potential translation users.

But I am surprised at the large percentage of colleagues who don't write articles (and/or don't care to), articles that could benefit translation students, new translators and others. I even sense a tinge of bitterness in some of the responses.

Oh, well. More audience for the rest of us!

Not a translation related article, but I'm in the process of writing a manual / booklet on proofreading and editing. Does that count?

Yes Jan 24, 2013

I have written articles on translation for the CATI Quarterly, ATA Chronicle, and my own blog (links available from my profile). I consider translation to be a close cousin of writing so it is only natural to write about it.
