Error 33353 - Word 2007 / Trados 2007

Dear Colleagues,

I am working with Vista, Trados 7 and Word 2007. I managed to enable the Trados toolbar (the add-in in Word) but the workbench wouldn't let me open the first segment. It comes up with the error message 33353. This has nothing to do with the organization of the document as it happens with any document.

I need to use Word 2007. I'd be very happy if you could give me an answer to this problem...

I have no experience using Trados under Vista, but I know that only the latest version of Trados can handle .docx files. If you are using Trados 7.0, 7.1 or 7.5 to edit .docx files, that may be the culprit. The Trados toolbar in Word, which is basically a macro, was made with .doc files in mind, back when the .docx format didn't exist yet.

If you think this is what's causing you trouble, you may want to investigate a method to make those .docx files compatible with the Trados toolba... See more

In theory, this is easy - you would only need to save your .docx file as .doc - the file properties that only exist in Word 2007 will be disabled, but in most cases, this shouldn't cause any problems.

Hi Patrick,

Trados 7 is not fully compatible with Windows Vista or Microsoft Word 2007. This is because Trados 7 was released before Windows Vista and so was created for a Windows XP or previous operating system. Also, Word 2007 requires a different Trados toolbar than the toolbar which came with Trados 7. The Trados 7 toolbar is only compatible with Word 2003 and previous versions.

Error 33353 - Word 2003 / Trados 2007 Jan 15, 2013

Dear colleagues,

My ancient Trados 2007 has suddenly stopped working. When I click on a
sentence, I get the error message 33353 "end paragraph not found."

This is happening even with old files that worked fine when I recently
translated them using Trados. This is regular text, not Table of
Contents.

Any suggestions?
