Thank you very much Sep 25, 2009

Thank you very much for supporting this idea. I would never expect that so many wonderful suggestions would appear overnight (my night). Here are some more suggestions:

balance discount - the difference between client's and translator's word-counts.
calculitis - a client disease, inflammation of calculator, which results in a tendency to always lower the word-count.

financio-intestinal disorder - a condition in which client claims to have sent the payment that you have never received.
global warning - a negative Blue Board feedback.
Pro2 - a pro with two native languages.
revendor - a translator who accepts a translation and hires another translator to do it.

Testies Sep 25, 2009

Very funny, I'll give it a try:

Testies: "Bodybuilders" that have nothing else to do and think you don't either.

Retractile testies: "Potential outsourcers" who suddenly do not need a test any more after telling them that you charge for it. See also "Mahler syndrom".

Hope it is not too NSWF

Fido? That's an odd name for a CAT tool.... :P Sep 25, 2009

Fido/Rover - (often localised as ‘Milou’, ‘Bello’, etc.) – any piece of software that decides suddenly to ‘eat your homework’, leaving you with a mangled file two hours before the deadline…

In memoriam
The Rube Goldberg-format Sep 26, 2009

Any file that has been prepared by a very tidy and well-meaning project manager to make sure that all segments are in alphabetical order (spread sheets) and/or are neatly sorted by font size (extremely handy when translating brochures and magazines). This way the translator doesn't have to bother with context, and can easily work his way through the dictionary going from A to Z.

Persuaders: potential clients who will try to persuade you that accepting low rates will mean getting more work.

mal-logism
Sort of a neologism in the original language which is actually a confuser-logism, and which the neologist translates literally, thus ending with a "mal-logism" in the target language.
