I thought of... May 4, 2007

...a purple pen.

What? don't translators usually think of writing instruments?

I do admit purple is one of my favorite colors, so that was easy.

And also, I think the test is biased, as translators, we are supposed to have an abnormal mind, right?...

But really, a red hammer? Where did that come from?

How come? May 4, 2007

I don't like red, but it was the first color that came to my mind. Was going to say blue, but that would have been cheating...

I thought of red pliers because I had forgotten the English for "hammer" May 4, 2007

I wonder if anyone counting in a language other than English would think of "red hammer".

I think this is because the last figure is phonetically associated with "red" and "hammer". At the very end you see once the figure 123 and pronounce twice the word "hundred":

hundRED > red
hundred > hammer

Very similar

This is just a guess

Blue screwdriver May 4, 2007

Interesting results! Not that many red hammers, it seems...

Now that's funny, because I remember this kind of fun test from when I was going to school and I'm pretty sure that I've always thought about blue, not red, and generally not a hammer - very often a screwdriver, I'd say.

@ Henrik: I played this game in French, and it was about a red hammer, too, so I don't think sounds are the matter in this game

We translators are definitely apart!

red dragon:-) May 4, 2007

Why? SL interference. "Tool" = "herramienta" in Spanish, and often is a broad reference to a kind of software.

So having had loads of help from Dragon NS recently, I thought of dragon, and it's logo's red.

I don't think I'm abnormal though, just a translator:-)

Weird..I wonder what it means, apart from the fact that I seem to be among the 'ordinary few'?
