I am a new user and will be thankful for your help.

I am getting the translation I want at the top of the translation results I want but I cannot get it to insert automatically in the target translation. I have tried all the combinations of settings in Translations/Automatic Lookup...

I have to insert the translation by ctrl-space or ctrl-1.

Thanks in advance

Pre-translate and "go to next" Mar 25, 2013

Hi Vishwa,

If you have a document with a lot of good TM hits, it is worth it to run a pre-translation. Depending on the settings you use, this will fill matching segments for you and will set the segment to the status you wish. Check out the documentation here: http://kilgray.com/memoq/62/help-en/index.html?pre_translation.html

You can run a pre-translation any time you want - so also, for example, when you have added a new document or alignment in the LiveDocs corpus.

There is also a bunch of settings to play with when it comes to moving from one segment to the next, allowing you to skip certain segments. All you need to know about that is here: http://kilgray.com/memoq/62/help-en/index.html?pre_translation.html

Hope this helps!

Hi,

The feature you want is under Translation > Automatic Lookup and Insetion and make sure the 2 first checkboxes are checked (it seems you must have the 1 only)

Thank you, problem solved! Mar 26, 2013

The only way I could get this done was

In Autolookup... all three boxes at the top are checked

In Goto settings goto next pre-translated segment

The funny thing is that a progress window is displayed only when the network connection is slow otherwise this window, which is the same for several other contexts, is not displayed.

This is very well thought out and user-friendly, especially in contrast with the 'Tea' people. Let me explain. If there

This is very well thought out and user-friendly, especially in contrast with the 'Tea' people. Let me explain. If there is no progress window while the software is searching somewhere and this can be very slow if you have slow connectivity, the user might think that the software has crashed!

All in all, I am very happy using memoQ. Let us keep our minds free and work towards progress.

I am not sure if this would help, but if you are talking about the longest substring concordance, then you should be able to press enter any time the first letter of the string appears in your translation and the translation will be automatically inserted.

E.g. if you have the following to translate:

"This is a very difficult phrase to translate"

and you have previously translated the phrase "very difficult"

E.g. if you have the following to translate:

"This is a very difficult phrase to translate"

and you have previously translated the phrase "very difficult"

you should get the suggestion at the upper right corner of "very difficult" - (very difficult | molto difficile)

Now, when you are translating, you type:

"Questa frase e' m..." (immediately you will be prompted to enter "molto difficile", so you just press ENTER).

Is this what you were looking for?
