Restricted functionality of Find/Replace feature

I have memoQ version 7.8.175. The "Find only whole words" and "Match case" sections are grayed out, thus greatly restricting functionality of this feature. Is there any way of correcting this?

The "Use regular expressions" checkbox is activated.

BTW. The use of regular expressions does not restrict the functionality of Find/Replace, but rather greatly enhances its capabilities that allows much more than restricting the search for whole words with case sensitivity.
