Greetings all,
One of my colleagues needs to access (find and edit) a multiple file project using the MemoQ web client. But unlike the Windows client, there doesn't appear to be an option to temporarily concatenate the multiple files into a single View.
It seems that it's only possible to view one file at a time with the web client. If that is true, how does the editor ensure that an edited string segment in one file is applied across the multiple files containing a duplicate string segment?
I tried clicking on Auto-propagation, in edit mode, but it did not seem to have any effect on the string segments in the other files.
The online version of memoQ is very limited and only suitable for very small and simple projects. Unfortunately, you won't be able to create a View (you can create a view in the Desktop version and "glue the documents together.")

This limitation is confusing me because I know our 3rd party translators do not use the MemoQ Windows client, so how are they translating our projects? Our projects contain about 20 xlf files and at least 1000 duplicate string segments. I know they are not re-translating the same segments in each of the individual files.
Perhaps they are downloading the projects to another tool? Edit in that tool, and then re-upload. Even that scenario is unlikely because we have multiple translators working on the same project simultaneously, so downloading/uploading would create synchronization problems.
My question is prompted by the need for our SME (language expert) to be able to review and edit strings, but this user only has a Mac computer, and the MemoQ off-web client is Windows only. Any ideas regarding an alternative solution?
Thank you

It is possible for the translators to work in the online tool and see the repetitions and fuzzy matches, they are not translating everything from scratch (I would still recommend the Desktop version just because it has more features).
But for the final reviewer, I agree that it makes more sense to have all segments in one view; they can use filters and the QA check will be a lot easier as well. ▲ Collapse
