Dear all:

Could anybody please advise me on the correct configuration of the automatic program control in Norton personal firewall 2004 please? I have Windows XP SP2 and am getting constant program control alerts that a remote system is trying to access my system. I know my firewall is not configured properly, could someone with knowledge in this area please advise me how to get the system protected but not have pop up alerts every 2 seconds. Many thanks in advance

Two systems throwing bricks at each other? Dec 10, 2004

I haven't had the courage to download SP2 yet. However, I think you will find how it is possible to disenable the built-in Windows firewall feature here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/learnmore/icf.mspx

Then you'll probably have to uninstall/reinstall the Norton tool.

I hope this helps...

is an option to switch the warnings (not the protection) out.
I'm sorry not to beeing able to provide you the direct acces to that function, but I have NIS Professional in German...
Just try to ask the Norton help or, when the warning appears, let the program show you more details about it.

In German this would be (free translated into English):
Personal Firewall
or
Intrusion detecion
