‘TES is an open source terminology extraction application specially designed and developed for our postgraduate course in Translation and Technologies. Nevertheless, the tool can be successfully used in professional translation environments.
The tools is written in Perl and uses the Tk graphical libraries. This means than additional software and packages must be installed in your computer in order to run the application. This process is well described in the manuals, but the process often leads to errors, specially under Windows. For this reason we have prepared a new distribution for Windows. The distribution contains all the required software and packages to run the application. To start TES you only have to download the zip file, uncompress it in any folder of your choice and double click in TES-Wizard.exe (if you want to calculate term candidates) or in TES-Editor.exe (if you want to edit them and calculate translation equivalents).

No, OmegaT itself doesn't feature term extraction. But if you use TaaS to perform term extraction, OmegaT will be able to connect to the resulting glossaries.

It's not free, but it is well worth every penny. It is especially handy for extracting bilingual files. The way the program is set up, you end up coming across terminology candidates that you may not have by doing the job manually. I've been using the program for two or three years and am entirely satisfied.

SynchroTerm is indeed the gold standard. Nothing can touch it when it comes to pro extraction software.

The one and only extraction app I ever tried, is AntConc. It's free and open*, cross-platform, and it does a lot more than term extraction.

I have little experience with Translation Technology and was reading about AntConc - actually, I have downloaded and tried to use it too. As far as I have seen, this tool seems to be able only to spot the same word reiterated in the text but not to spot words with different endings but belonging to the same grammar category (e.g. imperative verbs 3rd person singular - the Italian "Lei" politeness form). I see this is quite a different task. Any software to do that?
