Can anyone help me? I am looking for a translation software with the following attributes - I know, I know, it might not even exist!!

- Compatible with Mac
- Can be used by 3 translators that work from home (but for the same company)
- Compatible with InDesign
- Doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Thanks!

but I never tried it (and it might not work with the free version).

Hope that helps

Other than Wordfast Jan 5, 2012

Merci beaucoup Christine - we currently work with Wordfast but are looking to switch.

It's fine for Word and Excel, but that's pretty much it... It doesn't always find requested segments even if we know they exist. Plus, we were never able to use it with inDesign (Wordfast crashes every single time) and were told it is impossible for all three translators to have access to the same terminology database from different locations.

Thanks though!...

Swordfish + RemoteTM Jan 5, 2012

Hi,

You can use Swordfish to translate InDesign files on a Mac.

You can share a TM and terminology databases with your colleagues using MySQL on your own server or you can simply rent a personal RemoteTM database at 30 Euros per month (at 1 Euro a day, you should be able to afford the price).

Regards,
Rodolfo

Get Windows Jan 5, 2012

and you can run any translation software on your mac. You need only a Windows XP emulator.
But I believe Wordfast Pro will handle Indesign without problems.

There are three different versions of Wordfast by what you say I imagine you are using Wordfast Classic, Wordfast Anywhere is different to Classic and does allow collaboration of various translators, and with it being Internet based you can access it from any computer, plus it's free.

Another option... Jan 8, 2012

would be XTM Cloud (web-based). It is not free, of course, but supports more formats than Wordfast Anywhere - nothing against WFA, it has helped me a lot and probably will help me in the future too.

Thanks, but we actually work with Wordfast Pro and experienced problems with Wordfast Anywhere on a Mac environment.
