乍一看这种句子，还以为“华强北现在人潮汹涌，人山人海”，但仍远不如从前热闹呢。这就像“是人睡觉还是鸟睡觉”那个问题，理解是一回事，表达出来却又是另一回事，而且表达错了却还没意识到。前不久，某华文媒体如此翻译美国一学生自焚的消息，“这位年轻的学生已全身严重烧伤，并宣布死亡”。难道说，这位学生还能宣布自己死亡？显然，后半句的原文是 "and was pronounced dead"。原文本身没问题，但中译文却成了病句。类似的例子还有很多。

幾年前，美式快餐店肯德基創作了一句廣告標語：At KFC, We do chicken right!。 後來，我在互聯網上看到一個中譯版本，據說來自國內：“在肯德基，我們做雞是對的！”這麼一句標語，國內或許可以，但在香港，卻萬萬不可。那是文化差異使然，任何一個香港人都會把這句話解讀成“在肯德基，我們做性工作者是對 的”。

That reminds me of a true life story I heard from a friend. It happened more than 10 years ago when he was vacationing in Canton and was staying at some sort of ritzy hotel. One morning, upon asking whether the hotel had a treadmill for exercise, he was enthusiastically directed to a room staffed with garishly attired escorts.
But things must have changed as things opened up and folks became more and more knowledgeable and sophisticated.

那时“鸡”多“机”少。现在可能“鸡”和“机”一样多。
将来“鸡”可能会被“机”代替。
