Will localisation bring in more Kudozers? | | | Wenjer Leuschel (X) Taiwan Local time: 07:28 English to Chinese + ... Helps are voluntary. | Dec 31, 2006 |
Well, Lesley, helps are voluntary. Either you help or you don't. This must be the philosophy of KudoZ.
If an asker finds a right answer somewhere else, just congratualte him/her. If you don't find worthwhile to help someone, just don't do and don't care. There are always people who help without hesitation, while there are people who don't when they find out that it doesn't worth --- me for one.
Anyhow and anyway, I do believe it worthwhile that you bring up this issue and shed some light on it.

I guess so. It is great this way, for KudoZ serves to expose talents, no matter how many points they earn or how many questions they ask. For instance, I have found some reliable collaborators through checking up KudoZ questions and answers, either providing my answers or just agreeing with the answers of others.
The ways people use KudoZ to solve their problems do expose quite a bit about their abilities, capabilities and characters. You can even make psychogramms to figure out their personalities and performances. Psychogramms can be of use helping PMs (outsourcers) find out right collaborators for specific projects.
Acutally, I am expecting more new faces to show up. More translators will revitalize the market and I don't see any harm at all, because it depends on each of the peers to make their own choices freely and voluntarily. Almost nothing is compulsory at ProZ.com and that is why I like this website for translators.
I do hope and expect that more and more translators come to ProZ.com and seek their benefits at the website as well as help providing quality translations to the end clients.

I agree with you concerning the askers. Usually, I take them for peers. However, when they don't act as peers. I regard them as bad clients and sort them out.
