I'm working on proofreading of transport and forwarding terms dictionary, which was translated from English into Russian and Uzbek. The above term is translated into Russian as "Частная авария", which I doubt. I suppose it should be "Частичная авария", considering the following definitions I found from TeachMeFinance.com
Particular Average -- A partial loss of cargo or hull which falls entirely upon the interest concerned. See also "General Average".
General Average -- 1. loss that affects all cargo interests on board a vessel as well as the ship herself.
2. An internationally accepted rule of the sea which says when a peril threatens the survival of the ship, there may be sacrificed (thrown overboard) any cargo or supplies or ships' furnishings, and any expense incurred necessary to save the ship. If the vessel is saved, all cargo owners, ship owner, and owners of the freight revenue share pro rata in the loss.
In the above definition for Particular Average, can anyone explain me what the "the interest concerned" refers to?
