"La présence de la moumoute ici, fait que ça évite tout échauffement. Pendant le cross, déjà l’épreuve est longue, et le cheval sue énormément, donc ça peut provoquer des frottements." I found pictures of what look like furry saddle pads on line, but I'm not sure exactly what we would call these English.

Are you sure it is for the saddle? Is it not refering to the Kolibri? In which case it is talking about the fleece attached to the kolibri (see website found for Kolibri) Note the fleece on the horse's side to stop it rubbing. If not it is a saddle pad.

Moumoute est un mot bizarre ici. Il s'agit tr�s certainement d'un tapis de selle doubl� en mouton (v�ritable ou synth�tique)notamment pour amortir les chocs.

old fur coat material

there might be a more specific term though, but a moumoute refers either to a (bad) wig or a an old furry fur (coat, mostly)
in this case, it could be an old furry blanket for the horse /saddle
