Being native English, Caryl - it's quite normal, you don't get the word "introligator". Not so often used these days.

When I was a young boy, I can still remember my father taking books "tired" with reading to the introligator. This profession has more to do with mending bussiness then with regular publishing process. Those men could do mirracles.
In the context above, it means meeting special demands from the client, concerning the look of the book.
