Los cilios corporales surgen de monocinetias, que tienen una disposición ultraestructural característica del grupo. La boca es apical o subapical. En Trichostomatia se localiza en una depresión, o vestíbulo, que contiene cilios somáticos modificados. En un orden, Entodiniomorphida, los cilios están dispuestos en penachos o bandas y pueden estar agrupados formando sincilios, que se parecen a las membranelas o cirros de Spirotrichea (con los cuales antiguamente eran clasificados) y de otros ciliophora. Sin embargo, no presentan cilios compuestos verdaderos.

In trichostomes it lies in a depression, or vestibule, containing modified somatic cilia. In one order, the Entodiniomorphida, the cilia are arranged into tufts or bands, and may be packed together to form syncilia, resembling the membranelles and cirri of spirotrichs (with which they were originally classified) and other ciliates. However, no true compound cilia occur.
