German term

Hinweis auf die Möglichkei der Gebrauchsmusterabzweigung

German to English Law/Patents Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright
This is a text inserted in a Request for Patent examination. Where can I find examples of translation from German into English of "Prûfungsantrag/Request for Patent examination" ?. Thank a lot in advance.

This term is used on the cover sheet from the Deutsche Patent-und Markenamt and is in a legal context after the mention of the deadline for the answer.

Answer selected is wrong. The answer selected is utter nonsense to a patent attorney. This is a prime example of misreading of Google results!!!

Note regarding the possibility to derive a utility model

That's exactly how I translated this yesterday.

Uexküll also suggests "derivation" for "Abzweigung", though I've also seen "branch off".

I don't know (or have time to research) where you can "find examples of translation from German into English of "Prûfungsantrag/Request for Patent examination""

DPMA website

This isn't precisely what you are looking for, I know, but here is what the DPMA website itself has to say about "Gebrauchsmuster-Abzweigung". The site has a lot of material in English that you may find useful.

Splitting-off
Splitting off a utility model application
A utility model application can be split off from a patent application having the same contents. This can be useful if you have published your invention before filing a patent application. In that case, patent protection is no longer available since your invention is no longer new. However, you can apply for a utility model within six months from the publication. In this case, the novelty grace period applies: your publication is not considered to be part of the state of the art within this period.
You can use a split-off utility model to supplement a patent application. It provides flanking protection during the otherwise unprotected patent pendency period. Upon registration of the split-off utility model your invention enjoys full protection irrespective of the outcome of the patent grant procedure.
The split-off application is an independent utility model application. Tick box 8 on the request form to indicate that the application is split-off from a previous patent application. Furthermore, you must indicate the file number and the date of filing of the patent application.
Splitting off is allowable within 10 years from the date of filing of the original patent application. The utility model application must be submitted within two months from the rejection or withdrawal of the patent application at the latest.

Gebrauchsmuster-Abzweigung
