English term

include hospice care

English to French Other Medical: Health Care job description
End-of-Life Care (contexte : Colombie-Britannique)
Compassionate end-of-life care aims to preserve clients' comfort, dignity and quality of life by relieving symptoms, so those facing death can devote their energy and time to embracing that which is most important to them. End-of-life care services are provided to clients in their own homes and in home-like settings, assisted living residences, and residential care facilities, *which can include hospice care*.

SJLD Jul 25, 2012:
As I read it, the text is saying that certain residential care facilities may provide hospice (palliative) care.

Hospice care is defined not only by the services and care provided, but also by the setting in which these services are delivered. Hospice care may be provided in your home or in a special facility.

Many nursing homes and other long-term care facilities have small hospice units.

Proposed translations

50 mins

inclure les soins palliatifs

hospice = soins palliatifs selon le "Le Grand Robert"
Something went wrong...
2 hrs

"Hospice is a type of care and a philosophy of care that focuses on the palliation of a terminally ill or seriously ill patient's symptoms. These symptoms can be physical, emotional, spiritual or psychosocial in nature. Hospice care focuses on bringing comfort, self-respect, and tranquility to people in the final year of life. Patients’ symptoms and pain are controlled, goals of care are discussed and emotional needs are supported. Hospice believes that the end of life is not a medical experience, it is a human experience that benefits from expert medical and holistic support that hospice offers. ...

... The modern concept of hospice includes palliative care for the incurably ill given in such institutions as hospitals or nursing homes, but also care provided to those who would rather spend their last months and days of life in their own homes."

Yes, you are right. The concept has now spread to care at home and elsewhere.
