Discussion

rkillings Oct 29, 2012:
In France (but not necessarily elsewhere), the purchase option at the end of the lease is a required, i.e., definitional, feature of 'crédit-bail'. (Not so for a mere contrat de location-financement.)
philgoddard Oct 29, 2012:
What does "un instant de raison" mean, I wonder?
Tony M Oct 29, 2012:
Context? There should be previous entries in the glossary for 'levée d'option', but in any ase, the exact term to use will probably depend on just what this 'option' is? It's not obvious to me just what sort of option might be involved in a lease situation...

'crédit-bail' = you rent something with a purchase option. That purchase option can be either exercised at a fixed date (at the end of the X-year lease) or early (= any time during the lease).

"Au terme du contrat, l'entreprise a généralement le choix entre plusieurs options : restituer le bien, l'acquérir pour un montant défini lors de la conclusion du contrat ou renouveler le contrat à des conditions le plus souvent moins coûteuses"

agree Tony M : Aha! Well spotted, seems like this may not be a property lease after all? Like an LDL avec option d'achat for a car?

Thank you Tony. Yes, 'crédit-bail' works for everything, including cars ('LOA' in that case, I think)

agree rkillings : Better, "early exercise of the end-of-lease purchase option". To be early, exercise has to occur *before* the end of the lease.
